Honestly, hamstrings are not to be messed with. He should honestly take the year off to get it right. He has to make sure he is good when he sees Madge in November.
Yep, if he is due back in 4/6 weeks, lets test him early, get him to a RM game at the 3 week mark and get him to stretch it out with a few sharpe runs.....plays his cards right he will be fit for the Broncs pre season.
The question about Pezet remains - was he brought in as cover for Moses or to fill a gap @ 5/8? he played every game so far so that discounts his cover for Moses and he's clearly not a 5/8. I honnestly don't know what Ryles is trying to do with Pezet. He has not been impressive at all and should've been playing reserves from the start. Although Anasta was very clear when we signed him last year that he's not coming over to play reserve grade.
In my opinion, the failed DeBelin signing and the Pezet experiement are reflecting badly on Ryles' judgement.
The thing I find most strange about the Pezet move is NOT the thought pattern where he might be a decent interim solution to 5/8 while less experienced 5/8 options get a year to develop.
What is strange is that Ryles would have obviously spent the offseason building an attacking and defensive structure that assumed Pezet leaving, thus not relying on Pezet, thus Pezet trained to play a role.
How did that role include being a speed bump defensively? Being kick happy? Being prone to sloppy and slow passing left to right (right to left is much better)? Being loathe to go to the line ball-in-hand?
Is it that Pezet knows his role does not include any of those things but cannot meet the expectations? Because if that is the case, Ryles has shown he is prepared to drop those unable to perform their role.
The unfortunate thing about all of this is that Iongi's injury and now Apa's injury just reduces the 5/8 options because Papalii trained for FB and 5/8 but is required at FB. Pezet was bought in to hit the ground running and didn't and now is injured too. Cluster f**k.
The whole situation is a head scratcher. I don't blame Ryles for having the thought bubble of bringing Pezet across for 1 year...we all have bad ideas. But holy heck how did no one around him highlight ALL the ways this could go badly?
Unfortunately for Ryles he aligned himself fairly strongly with the Pezet signing and it's backfired spectacularly. Round 6 and we have our more noteable signing JDB unwanted after a few rounds, injuries till Christmas and now a stop gap half who has both underperformed and now copped an injury.
Maybe we should turn into the Parramatta Eels Legal Company because the only win it looks like we're going to claim this season is the Lomax win in court (oh, and the preseason challenge which looking at the ladder seems to have been the worst indicator possible of in-season form).
I think it's was more that Pezet happened to be available for one year, which on paper fitted us perfectly. I reckon Ryles had him pencilled in for NSW Cup by the back end of the year, with a mid season swap to our juniors. That may happen sooner rather than later with his injury. Clearly we are not developing Pezet's game, so he may have already played his last game of NRL for us. Time will tell.

Please don't mention our other star signing ....

Would be so useful if saints wanted to swap gutho back for pezet...so many headaches over. They need a seven we need a Gutho badly!
