The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce the signing of experienced forward Jack de Belin for the 2026 NRL season, with an option in the Club’s favour for the 2027 season.

Parramatta Eels Head Coach Jason Ryles said de Belin will be a valuable addition to the team, bringing experience to a young roster.

De Belin has played 244 NRL games since his debut in 2011. He has represented New South Wales in State of Origin and made six appearances for Papua New Guinea, where his grandmother was born, playing a pivotal role in their victory in the inaugural Pacific Bowl Final.

      • In theory it would make no difference, they are all middles these days.

      • Well we will see at 4pm today if Ryles has named Hopgood there with Williams more likely having to move to the edge and Walker starting at 13.

        • One swallow does not a summer make,

  • Just hope we get Averillo he be just centre we need and another forward i think we be set for a big year

  • Can't say I am excited but it's only another year down the tubes. De Belin may help us to only leak about 10 points less a game but he ain't turning is into a finals team.

      • Great point. I think we are not done, our chase of Luke Garner (if fair dinkum) is an indication Ryles may want an edge back-rower.

    • Contrary to what you have read, I think we are still a few players short of next year.

Picking sides now just shows how desperate we are to convince ourselves, I think everything is shaping OK but there is more to come.....and there will need to be. No criticisms just a moment in time.

You may not see De Belin as part of GF team, but neither was Stumpy Stevens a broken down 5/8 who played in the front row in our first GF win. There are horses for courses and you dont need 17 superstars to win one!

      • You do need at least one though....nobody currently at our club would qualify. We have 1 winger who goes OK at Origin level sometimes and a Origin level half who is perpetually injured.

Stumpy's side did contain several superstars though.

      • Definitely short Pops we need more depth through the whole top 30 if you ask me.

Early days though I do wonder if we can land a big signing though a Tino F or someone of that ilk.

  • Good

"He has proven he is a very good player. O'Sullivan (Newcastle) knows that, I just happen to believe he has made a terrible mistake in employing DB on a rediculous price....he honestly looks burnt out to me.
He is IMO a player ruined by BA."
