So Brown had the chance to leave early and go start his career at the Knights, and in return we would have saved a bit of his money or maybe nabbed another player.

But he decided against that idea and chose to stay and fulfil his contract, basically saying he'll play in whatever position is needed to help out the team.
Seems like Parra have a lot of selfish players on their books worried about themselves.

Question is who benefits from this Brown or Parra? Just a simple one word answer will do.

  • Both, imo.

Playing any position & staying is a selfless team related decision, but his form, especially in the early rounds, felt very selfish.

Brown also said he would also go early if it's what the Eels wanted - they chose to keep him, or couldn't organise a player swap with Newcastle (probably more likely).

In hindsight, this whole thing has been an absolute mess. How we couldn't get a player swap with the Knights when DB had checked out is baffling, and just another question for the R&R team.

    • Though NOS to be fair who from Newcastle realistically could we have swapped Brown for that 1) we wanted and is quality and 2) was on enough money to fit Brown in a Newcastle?

All well and good saying "we want Dylan Lucas" we are not in a video game, Newcastle would laugh at us and say we will just wait til next year and have both.

Newcastle would of loved to of had Brown this year, but are not going to just give up a cornerstone player for him when they get him next year anyway. Plus cap space stopped that. I think both clubs were keen but could not agree on someone that was good enough to trade and enough to get Brown into the cap.

      • That's very fair, LB. Good points.

KPP for a year would've been handy? Hasn't he signed with Tigers? But I do agree with you, this isn't SuperCoach, unfortunately.

In the Eels defence, they may have expected more from DB's form in 2025 also which would've made holding make more sense. He was great in 2024, and this year, imo, has been his worst in first grade.

The whole things just been a mess LB. Maybe no ones fault, but frustrating for fans.

        • I feel awful going against you NOS 😂😂😂 feels wrong.
