Outside back, Haze Dunster is set to remain at the Parramatta Eels for next season as he looks to contend for the vacant spot on the wing left by the departing Maika Sivo.

Missing a significant portion of this year due to a Lisfranc injury, he has failed to cement a regular spot in the starting team but will have 12 more months as he looks to impress new head coach Jason Ryles.

According to The Daily Telegraph, it is understood that he will remain at the Eels next season with Dunster and the club agreeing to take up the mutual option in his contract.

A member of the club's Top 30 roster since 2020, next season would make it Dunster's sixth season at Parramatta and will see him once again provide coverage to the outside backs and contend with the likes of Jake Tago, Sean Russell, Jordan Samrani and Joash Papalii.

The 25-year-old has registered 19 first-grade matches and three tries since his debut.

  • 🤔

  • He would be getting the bare minimum payment now.

  • From what TCT said about MO is that basically that player is at the club regardless just a salary thing that's the difference. So doesn't surprise me.

  • The young fella has had a terrible run with injuries but also has looked very ordinary in the first grade games he has played.  He has looked disinterested at times and seems to lack intensity when it comes to the physicality side of the game.

    • I'd love to see how he plays with a full pre season and and injury free season. I reckon he has more to offer, but probably well back in the pecking order at the moment.

    • I don't think he has been disinterested. I just think his body could not keep up with the nrl ever since the knee injury

    • Confidence is shot. He's done unfortunately.

  • Very average player.

There would have to be a monumental amount of injuries in the backs for Dunster to get a run in 1st grade again.

    • Yes, he has unfortunately turned out that way. I had some hope he'd develop into a decent FG winger and he did show some promising signs in that Penrith covid semi final.

      His injury totally stuffed him.

  • Ran the 100m in 15 seconds pre injury. Has always lacked the pace and athleticism of quality outside backs and injuries set him back further.

An example of the type of player we wasted years of time in. Harsh reality.
