The Eels may have dropped a game to the Dragons in the trials, but it was their convincing 36-0 shutout of arch rivals and defending premiers the Panthers that put the competition on notice. It was not just the ease at which their defensive wall denied the Panthers any real opportunities, but their attack has never looked so on song against a top four team. The Eels pushed the Panthers all the way in the semi-finals last year and many believe they deserved to win that game, while they beat the Storm twice in one season to bookend Melbourne’s 19-game win streak. The Eels have lost a few players for 2023, but with so little disruption to their squad this season they have a real opportunity to send their stars out on the ultimate high. Parramatta have one of the best forward packs in the competition on paper and if they can cover for the loss of winger Maika Sivo until mid-season they can make a charge later in the year. The key will be Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown having consistent seasons across 25 Rounds and if Clint Gutherson and Mahoney can stay healthy they have the team to end the longest premiership drought in the NRL stretching back to 1986.
Last time they called us priemership favourites we didn't even make the eight. I'm really hoping that isn't the case this year. They got the team we all know that, are they ready mentally is the question.

Exactly offside, we signed tahu from the knights and were a shoe in by all. BA has done amazing job, rebuilt the club from the ground up with co around him. I just hope they do believe the hype they can win it but don't get cocky. Finger's crossed this is our year.

Tahu was returning from Rugby added Poore and Shackleton with Mortimer as the next big thing to complete Hayne.
On paper after the year before we were looking good but it never got started for us that year
"Potentially 0-4 or 1-4 to start the season could knock the confidence right out and being at home after that could mean little.
If we can manage 2 wins from that first 4 we will be in a good position so there is a benefit if you manage to play good…"

Correction we came last. 2018 i recall.
We weren't hot favourites then. Pretty sure it was 2010 everyone talked up us so much. We went absolutely crap. I like the underdog tag.
2010 was when it all started to go wrong.
Makes you appreciate the Rebuild job BA has done
