Matto open to stay in England

From Zero tackle this morning:

Basically, Matto is saying that he is open to staying in England beyond this year. Whilst he's still contracted to the Eels for 2026, his future remains uncertain.
Apparently, he moved to England to regain enjoyment in his football (LOL).
He stated he's focused on the short term and has left future contract discussions to his manager. Parramatta hasn't confirmed if they’ll release him for 2026, but given he was out of their plans earlier in the season, it's possible they may consider it.

      • You think we can im thinking with all these players leaving we should have at least $300.000 or more

        • Well Matto is $700k alone apparently

      • I'm a bit surprised to see that you've listed Da Silva grouped with Moses, Paulo and Lomax. Surely not? Do you know roughly how much we're paying him?

        • $2.5M thru 2029 season was reported...so $550K + on average per year.

          • Matto, would it be possible for you to apply yourself and have a crack for the next 6 weeks so as to attract interest from any pommy club?

We would be mighty grateful and of course you would benefit with an extended contract, which I know would appeal.

Back home we remember you fondly for your off-loads and biceps and that respect for you will only be enhanced if you're successful in starring, once again, for a new team.

Best of luck from your old teams fan-base.

  • Matto is the type of player bushie signs here for 3 years.  Brad couldn't give a stuff about the culture in the club - anything to save his job.

And Gutherson whilst he gives 100% as a player,  was a total disgrace with every contract negotiation and he also embarrassed himself when scalding his own players on feild

    • Matterson should've been shown the door the second he opted for the suspension over a fine.

  • Has he recovered from his spine injury?

    • Only by divine intervention was he able to overcome his injury. Praise the lord!

Newcastle has a poor roster, made worse from Brown's deal and perhaps Ponga's eventual release."
