Eels centre Michael Jennings says he will take up an option on his 2019 contract that will allow the club to rebuild.
In what has been a down year for the last-placed Parramatta, Jennings has only scored four tries in 15 games this season.
But the 30-year old is keen to repay the faith the club has shown in him.
“I’ve been at Parramatta for three years and I want to stay and do my best to help the club through some tough times,” Jennings told The Saturday Telegraph.
“I’m not focusing on contracts at the moment though. I just want to finish the season strongly.”

Well done Michael thank you for your loyalty.
You made a mistake coming to Parra under these bums - career killers.
Help the rebuild or cash in?
Cha-Ching!
It's not about reading the attack so much, it's more about trusting his inside man. No one in that team, especially on the right edge are trusting each other anymore. Not like they did last year.
Your edges in defence have to be 4 guys on a string working in unison. They're just not at the moment. Losing results in a loss of confidence, which results in a loss of trust in each other.
This is bad practice by the club and should be knocked on the head for future player contracts.
John, players often have options in their contracts. It's pretty common practice. When Jenko signed for us he signed a 3+1 contract. Conversely clubs often have options in their favour that they can choose to exercise or forgo. It gives both the player and the club some flexibility.
It's like back ending contracts, there is nothing wrong with it if you manage it properly.
In this situation all Jenko has done is exercise the option in his favour. If he didn't, the club still probably would've offered him a new deal anyway.
I agree with most of that Brett, but I’m not so sure that with the broom about to be wielded that Jennings wouldn’t have been in the perverbial dust heap. Especially if he is on the 700k plus some have stated.
Jennings is the only contract left from before the cap scandal when we thought we had effectively unlimited cap space. He’s also one of the few left from pre-2017 when we were desperate to get some players into the squad after the dust had settled.
