Nah, Juniors the only one whos an actual prop. He cant do it all and its the toughest position. He keeps showing up. Full respect to him.Β JDB is meant to be a bench player to bring on to stablise the ruck. Its not his fault to much is being asked of him.
Naah. JDB and Kelly are good options, but they are here to take the sting and lessen the pressure on younger players with higher potential. They should be alright being jersey 18 and 19 every matchday but it won't hurt their development if they don't play.Β
Junior's role needs to change maybe but he's still well worth a place in the 17.Β
It seems our fans on here don't understand that, if he made a 20 metre break, they would be falling over him.....subtle is a word that is difficult for some. That said and to repeat myself our defence has lost formation in the halves, Moses trying too hard and Pezet too slow.....we may need a cover defending lock.
I would have sacked Pezet last game and I am still not impressed with last night, he was lucky....when he kicked on that last play and fluked the try I was ready to kill him for not hanging on to the ball in the circumstances. He is a half and not a 5/8, simple as that.....one of the choices is that they keep the current numbers but Moses plays as the 5/8. Arguably it is actually happening already I think?
Pezet definitely needs to keep working on his defence .Β I'm with you on the kicks but on the plus side every time he did it he had caught Walsh out of position . That fearlessness to back himself when someone is out of position Β is probably what won us the game at the end of the day Β There's no chance in hell Dylan Brown would've pulled the trigger. It's not going to go Pezets way every time but it's probably something we need to back and encourage?
Poppa, based on the first two round, I'm not sure the Eels are playing with a 5/8 at all. Instead two #7's. Moses and Pezet are often combining, switching who is first receiver, but the aim appears to be to target the 3-4 in channel in the opposition defense. Backrowers and Iongi are being brought onto the ball.Β Juet my first impressions. Also, Moses still main long kicker. Pezet obviously getting more involved in short kicking. He got pretty lucky three times with short kicks!
Scottie and Daz, I think we are on the same track.....and your point Snottie about fearlessness is true, my experiences tell me that fearlessness is being very brave, but I prefer him to be "very smart" that brings you back into it Daz....
PS Bronco's woke (no pun) up to that play after Ilongi scored his second try, they opened up Melb last week for a few minutes (no result)Β the Storm cover defence being the (just) stopper!
You got it in one and Iongi it allows Iongi to float both sides at 2nd reciever.
We are running basically 2 game controllers it's either Iongi out the back or Β like you mention front door with the hard running backrowers it's why I think they will give Tuilagi another shot.
Its versatility you have when you have players like Williams who can be moved into the middle Kautoga and Tuilagi. There all athletes and that's what you need on the edge.Tuilagi's issue is he's laterally comprimised he can be caught and once his feet are planted he's screwed.
Its the defensive combination and improvements we have to see they are still very disjointed both sides and imo it's purely because of change in personnel. We need to try and keep combinations constant on the edge so they can grow.
"Your a wise man for a Snottie LOL
I can see where Mallee is coming from just the same. I thought when Joash played 5/8 last year he did well defensively and his passing and linking was not a problem. The problem with Pezet is his speed in defence,β¦"
"Pezet occupied the middle a lot last night and they combined nicely. Still growing pains but they both seem to be on same page in terms of the goal. They haven't gotten in each others way at the moment."

He used to be able to do it all.Β Time to hand the reins to Tuivaiti.Β Paulo is fast becoming a detriment.Β Be good for a spell off the bench.Β
We had 20% of the ball their first stint on the field.Β
Expecting both to get better as the season goes on . Game is too quick for the best of middles at the moment .Β

JDB had the highest tackle efficiency of any Eels player at 95%. That's basically his job. Make the tackles in the middle in the opening 20 minutes.

It will be heavily marked from now on!
