J'MAINE HOPGOOD Salary cap relief

Would anyone be able to clarify if Parramatta would be entitled to salary cap exemption for Jmaine hopgood, I am certain if a player is out for the season due to foul play than that club can ask for salary cap relief to cover the loss of a player, can anyone confirm this, or does it only apply to representative football

  • No, unless it is a rep game it is considered part of the "inherent risk" clubs must manage within their Top 30.

We could apply for a discretionary exemption but this is for extreme hardship cases, e.g. if we ran out of middles. In this scenario we signed Debelin and that is considered our poor top 30 management if he is not good enough to be picked.

  • It's Parramatta not the Storm, Penrith or Roosters
