Imagine the poor commentators , " Junior Barloooooor passes to Martin Tapaoooooowwww". To be fair I believe the pronunciation of names was a media driven thing rather than the players. I really don't think the players minded that much except for maybe Gagai (the poor bugger)
Everyone hates their name being pronounced wrongly.... coconuts I have known have been "tough" guys, hard to hurt, ready-to-rock., but poor at defending themselves in other ways. They can be oddly shy, and bereft of confidence when placed in "awkward" positions. My guess is they take a long time to get the confidence to speak up.
