                • Coates is definitely going to be the star recruit for PNG. But I'd assume the majority of their side will be PNG grass roots players with a few experienced nrl players

            • Players will not go there unless they're earning 2 or 3 times the offers they'll be attracting here.   Even there and it's a fucking dive of a place.  Not one positive to mention.  It's a dangerous shithole and it's not if , it's when , a player or his family are targets of crime due to their known wealth.

              • Can confirm that outside the compounds it can get proper dangerous real quick

        • If the club can tie down the most important players on the team before that all starts they will do well. Probably single out 5-6 key players you really don't want to lose.

        • There was talks that PNG will have tax exempt money. So for top talent, they could be earning 45% more I.8 on 1mil you'd be saving 450K on tax. That along will have people lining up. For this reason I'm much more worried for png than bears

        • PnG is a stupid idea from start to finish.  Why ?  Well what is the sole reason for the game expanding ? To generate further income for the game.  Nothing more nothing less.  So what's the long term goal here , for the NrL or tax payers to support this franchise forever ?  The average income in Australia is what 5 x that of PNG ?  And the average family would be stretched these days to take the whole family to a few games per year , then throw in jerseys , etc.   do we think the ticket prices in PNG will be the same as what we pay ?  And yet the clubs will have you believe that that must charge these prices to make it viable.

So either the game in PNG is going to be propped up by the paying fans here , or they're going to have empty stadiums .  It's a fucking token team , and it'll be a drain on NrL fans here.  Literally the games version of a welfare recipient club which will eventually be folded .

          • No, Albo has his fingers all over this. We are courting PNG to keep China out, and Albo has promised big dollars to make this happen. Just look at the recent Defence deal between Australia and PNG. What do we really get out of that deal other than keeping China away from our shores?

            • Govt is indeed uo to its eyeballs in this Longfin....so I'm sure it will all go just swimmingly

It's a fucking jungle up there. You are safe enough in the compound, but don't go walkabout or shit getrs wild fast

  • They should be taking now, media even saying that is a priority. His next deal will take him to 2030. Question is money, ideally before he plays Origin. Could be around $800k mark.

    • Walsh and Ponga will be picked  over him

"It's why freight is commonplace, and often a win-win. RCG & Waqa moved to the Eels after Ivan Cleary returned to the Panthers in 2019 (Gus gone). Despite being in contract, they were subsequently offloaded with freight paid for by the Panthers."

"Like most punters, I like V'landy's tough 'talk'. Scare campaign. Optics. But the Devil is in the Details. And Point 3 of the NRL statement shows this is NOT a hard-fast 10 Year ban on R360 rebels. NOT a blanket rule. It's case-by-case.…"
