Hard to feel sorry for the bloke when he goes on national tv a few weeks ago denies any interest in a player then signs him a few short weeks later. Media and fans are absolutely crushing his credibility and it's just a bad look for the game when a player takes 500k less to join the club that Gus is the head of. Pressure will firmly be on the bulldogs this season as anything less then a title will lead to a backlash

C'mon CE - let's get real. Cheating (as in breaking laws or regulations), yes I absolutely agree.
But lying? Nah. Every single time a player throws a dummy they're lying. Or grabs the back of their neck after a tackle when they're not sore...lying. Or having cramps to wind down the clock...lying.
Deception is used by everyone every day. The pearl clutching over Gus wouldn't be happening if we had an equally savvy Head of Football working for us. If we were doing the talent sniping from other clubs, we'd be loving it then.
If 100% honesty is where we draw the line as a club we will, and I can promise you this, never ever win a premiership again. Because we'll be holding ourselves to a level that no one else does.
Telling lies to win, manipulate, coerce, entice and get what you want is cheating plain and simple. It's dishonest, has zero integrity and people who practice it purposely can't ever be trusted. They're leaches.
Corruption is illegal - I could bet my bottom dollar that Gus and Moses did nothing illegal.
Did they lie? Oh heck yes. And if you've ever negotiated a contract or a bid for tender, you would have lied multiple times too. To manage multiple stakeholders (clubs, players, managers, media) and get the outcome you want, people lie. If we want our top contract negotiators to only ever tell the truth then we will never, ever land a contract. Fact of life.
I call "We want Galvin, we got Galvin" getting the job done. The Dogs did it, we failed. Plain and simple.
It's the same as people who whinge over the "salary sombrero" that the Roosters have with Politis, or the Broncos have previously had with the Thoroughbreds. The reality is the NRL is a very loosely governed body - if we don't operate to the same level of looseness then we will never win.
Of course we need to only ever operate within the law. And of course there are some areas (eg corporate governance) where we should be "by the book" 100%, but that is governed by actual law. In terms of NRL rules...if you can get away with it, then you should, because others definitely are.
💯 yet here our fans are liar liar pants on fire.
Its a laugh teams not just Gus have been walking the line for years but yet here we are.
It just seems to me like our front office our fans are 2' in front of there faces and are missing the big picture SMH.
Corruption and telling blatant lies isn't winning and it will certainly come back and bite where it hurts sooner or later. I'd rather win by doing the correct thing with honesty and integrity and wait 50yrs than cheat to win. Doing something because everyone else is is just a sign of weakness with no moral backbone. It takes courage to swim against the tide of corruption. Ryles has integrity it seems from what I've seen so far and it will pay dividends
Good luck everyone has lied or deceived at some point in time.
JR has integrity are you saying the other nrl coaches don't how is JR even in this conversation.
The problem isn't JR it's the people above his pay and power grade if these guys don't know how to walk the line like the rest then like Cappy is saying we'll never win a another premiership.
Thats just facts you want an idealistic situation where everyone walks the right side of what illegal and what's not that's just not going to happen not only in football in life.
JR is in the conversation because the signature of Galvin was between Pinocchio Gould and Ryles who has more integrity in his toe than Gould will obviously ever have
I understand with the lies but not sure how you think corruption and cheating were involved.
Facts are, we were never a chance of getting Galvin once the Dogs entered the equation.
If people think our shiny new COE is suddenly going to deliver us top tier players, they are sorely mistaken.
I know if I was a player, I would pick the club with the capable front office over the one with the fancy COE every time.
As long as we persist with the front office and board we have, we will NEVER win another premiership.
Aren't telling lies to get what you want cheating.
'I don't get this attitude of hating on someone who out-maneuvered us'
Absolutely, Cap. This isn’t a competition in who can sell the most Girl Scout cookies. Welcome to the world of professional sport.
Gould was bending the rules? Great, why weren't we?
Gould the naughty boy lied to the media? Is that the same media who spend literally 24 hours a day posting lies to the public? How could he.
It's great we are the best student in class & head the book club on Saturdays, but Gould has just rolled in on his motorbike & stole our prom date.
