If they aren't going to drop Russell for Joash, I would be inclined to drop him off the bench for another forward.
Moses and Lomax are backing up and may not play a full game
Fuck that they should, if they don't they are taking the piss.
4 days after Origin and backing up as a back.
You're thinking wingers play like they did 20 years ago. Lomax averages close to 20 runs a game and over 200 metres.
They also don't spend their days out at the Hardies factory throwing bags of cancer around all week. Moses should be pretty fresh all things considered, not even having a lend . 15 tackles and ran 38 metres . Unless injured , If Moses can't manage a full match he's taking the piss. We need him to start looking at our season with the passion he looks at Origin. He'd play one one leg for NSW . Damn sure he wouldn't pull out with a sore toe . I'm backing him to have a point to prove after Cleary took his limelight the other night.
And Lomax is only 25 FFS. He'll be sweet.
Fuckin A
It's easy to critisize the opportunities Russell cost us last week by getting caught with the ball numerous times (I was screaming at him), but defensively he was actually great and didn't let a try through his side. I think him and JAC have been able to shut down a lot on the left.
Defensively, he has improved greatly but every time he gets the ball, he tends to kill our attack.
Agree, and when you have JAC on the outside ready to go it's so frustrating.
It's easy to criticize Russell for NOT getting the ball to JAC a few times, but I do wonder how much of that was a two-fold effect? One, Garrick was in Russell's face very often. In review. Quite a few times Russell got the ball almost as Garrick got to him. Flick-ons are high risk and the Eels clearily prioritized possession, so is it possible Russell either made good decisions not to flick on or JR said limit flick ons? Two, with Garrick right on Russell, was Dylan or Kautango doing enough on the inside to draw in the Moanly outside backs?
Im just wondering if we are being a bit harsh on Russell?
