The Parramatta Eels have lodged a formal complaint to Fox Sports over an alleged incident between a cameraman and a mascot.

While details surrounding the nature of the incident are scarce, Venues NSW are also investigating, according to Nine's Danny Weidler.

It's not clear when the incident occurred or exactly what happened."They're not happy about the treatment of the mascot by a Fox Sports cameraman and it's something they're following through," Weidler said on 100% Footy on Monday night.

"And also Venues NSW are going through security vision to see exactly what has happened."

Venues NSW run Accor, Allianz, CommBank and McDonald Jones Stadiums, as well as the SCG Trust, WIN Sports and Entertainment Centre, and the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

Mascots are a big part of the game-day experience across every club, and usually during the games walk laps of the stadium high-fiving and posing for photos with fans.

Parramatta's mascots are Sparky and Sparkles, and according to the Eels website "are always proud of the boys' efforts on the field".

Given the Eels are only off the bottom of the ladder by 10 points on for-and-against, Sparky and Sparkles are doing a lot of the heavy lifting of the Eels cheers squad.

Parramatta have the bye this week, and will take on the Knights in Newcastle in round 17.

    • Missed it, what did he do? (Or was it just being his normal self? AKA #BiggestTopJournoMythEver)

  • I'm guessing the mascots are both female.....at least Parra have their priorities right.

  • What about Newcastle's mascot , anyone see this woke shit on the weekend ? Now Newcastle have a mentally unstable man running around hugging children .  If I was a Newcastle fan this would be enough to have me boycott the club.

    • OMG that is concerning. Can I see Carlo there too in the background gawking..?

I think a FACs notification is needed

    • Did you miss the 25 years of both the NRL and AFL footy show where blokes dressing in drag happened every other week?

Aunty Jack in the 70's and 80's?

      • Hey Maggie,

No i didn't and saw some of that on the footy show; I guess there is a difference between a teams mascot that engages kids to an adult tv show. But hey, each to their own mate.

I am glad we have Sparky and Sparkles....male mand female.

        • Aunty Jack was a kids show. No one cared. No one had their sexuality altered because they watched it.

All this Drag queen fear shit is spill over from the US political sphere where sides have to " energise their voter base" by pushing hot button cultural issues to get people engaged enough to vote because they don't have mandatory voting laws.

      • So in other words Maggie , you're saying this trans bloke is pretty much just for ridiculous comical purposes like the footy show and we should all just laugh at this guy as he walks past ?   In no way should we consider him as normal ?  Silly old men in women's leotards taping their cocks between their legs and interacting with kids at the footy is just a footy slow like skit .  Finally Maggie is coming around .

I can live with that if that's your stance ?

        btw , wasn't Aunty Jack canceled after a single season ?  😂😂😂

        • You know I'm saying the Transphobia rubbish that gets parroting from the US culture wars is comical. It's the predictable punching down for political points that's embarrassing.

          • Hmmm sounds like you're wanting to have a foot in each camp , are we treating this bloke as a footy show skit ?  Or are we supposed to respect this person as a real woman or whatever gender  "they " decide to be each morning ?  Cause from where I'm sitting I'm not too sure that The Knights were thinking " comedy that's gold " when they wheeled him out for their fans.

More like," hey everyone look how modern and hip The Knights are normalising 60 year old men in skimpy getup , interacting with your kids ",  and nobody would dare question it.  But the fact you went straight to the ridiculous antics of Vautin and Co tells me you see this stunt as exactly what it is , moronic . However maybe subconsciously.

Whilst we're both being disingenuous , to quote Ploppas fav term , I think we both know that you know , the difference is this push to get drag queens as close everyone with story times , bingo, trivia , drag Santa's ,  and whatever other reason they can ram them down our throats ( ptp) , is ftotally different than a bunch of blokes doing it for comical reasons. You can't use comedy skits as your examples and then also request we can't simply laugh at Trannys such as this example who is not there for shits and giggles.  Trannys belong in adult venues , not trying to normalise men dressed like this at children and family events,  especially in a game that has stamped out cheergirls in skimpy clothing which we all accepted as outdated years ago. Why , because the NRL said such attire was sexualising. So why is this not deemed as sexualising an old pervert in front of kids ?
