GALVIN SHOCKS EELS

Lachlan Galvin’s decision to join Canterbury has gone down like a lead balloon with Sydney rivals the Eels.

Sport Confidential can reveal Parramatta bosses were supremely confident of securing Galvin and believed they had their man before being ambushed by the Bulldogs.

It is understood the Eels had tabled a multi-year, $1 million-a-season deal for Galvin to partner Mitchell Moses at the Parramatta scrumbase next year.

But the Wests Tigers young gun shocked the Eels by taking less to go to the Bulldogs.

Galvin’s management have been criticised for allegedly brainwashing the teenager but the 19-year-old made the call to reject Parramatta of his own volition.

    • Oh lie like Gussy saying we weren't interested he wasn't on our radar? Maybe in 6 or 7 years.

  • Galvin not coming - let's get over him!! Let's focus on who we have - and who we are after.. He's 19 and done nothing as yet as a footballer. Potential yes - let's just take a deep breath and relax.. In Ryles I trust..

  • Glad he's not going to Eels. He's obviously a storm in a teacup

  • No player, or their manager takes less money unless they are at the very back end of their career, or the player has royally stuffed up off field (like Ado Carr being busted DUI). Any shortfall is being made up in TPA's.

  • We got lucky Bennet turning us down, feel same here out pathways is choc full of talent.

  • You haven't lost out when this was clearly orchestrated last year when Gus and Moses ended feud. No amount of money was going to change the deal.

good news we have 1m to splurge

    • Yes go and get Sandon Smith now with an offer too good to refuse!

The way Moses is going he could be in pieces by the end of the year. What's he played 2/3 games for us this year. Not his fault but he is not strong in the legs and its showing up.

  • Fools gold. He is a good player.  Not elite IMO and certainly not 1M per year. He doesnt have the elite defence of Dylan Brown or the decision making skills of MOSES or CLEARY or the eyes up footy of Kotoa.  He may get there but he has to now blend into the dogs culture and some pretty decent personalities.

  • I'm glad we didn't sign him, especially for that money

  • Reported by a few other outlets that we would not budge above 850
