Parramatta have emerged as the leaders in the race for promising 20 year old rake Tallyn Da Silva. There is a chance for Da Silva to leave Concord by Monday for the June 30 cut-off period with the Manly Sea Eagles, Newcastle Knights and North Queensland Cowboys all interested in the Western Suburbs junior. Da Silva met with Jason Ryles earlier in the week. There was talk of a swap deal being presented by the Wests Tigers that would have seen Da Silva go to Newcastle with KPP, Tigers bound in 2026, heading to Wests early. That deal has reportedly fallen through.

All the clubs bar Parramatta that have expressed interest in Da Silva have a coach that is under pressure. Da Silva is considered one of the most promising Hookers to come into the game in a long time, just turning 20 and playing 21 games for the Wests Tigers.

Parramatta being favourites should be no surprise considering our cap space and chance for him to start right away. Manly are the next best option, with manager Mario Tartak having numerous Manly players on the books already including Haumole Olakau'atu, Jason Saab and Nathan Brown. However, Tartak also has Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Doorey and Toni Mataele at Parramatta so the manager connection is just as strong at Parra than Manly.

Manly also have a need for a Hooker immediately with Lachlan Croker, Jake Simpkin and Gordon Chan Kum Tong not meeting the standards to be consistent Hookers for the club. NQ have a hole with Robson leaving but not til 2026 and Newcastle have a hole with Brailey moving to Canberra and Crossland now being seen as a Lock forward.

If Da Silva signs with Parramatta and is granted the chance to join immediately, he will start in Round 19 v Penrith.

    • Yeah if we go hard for Tallyn and he goes to Manly where their coach is on nose edge then I'm jumping on the MON bandwagon even more to get him out. That will be ridiculous. He prefers to play with a club where they will have a new coach and new 7.

      • He may just want to be the unquestioned 9. Either way Ryles will be looking for another 9 to add to the fold but I'd say manly prob the favourite

        • If MON/Ryles aren't able to sell their vision, then that's pretty piss poor. Definitely a more steady ship than Manly.

But on the other hand, if he just wants a walk up start, and doesn't want to back himself against a young 5 foot rookie in Smith, then maybe he's not the player we need.

      • Apparently Manly offered 3 years 650k and the starting position

        • Yeah they have no middle forwards that's a silly signing for them, won't really change their fortunes much 😂 he'd be dumb not to take that but

        • I doubt it was that much, I've seen so many numbers thrown around. Manly do not have the cap for that

          • They are letting go of tevaga and GCKT to accomadate it

      • Manly really dont have a recognised hooker at present and he may see it as an opportunity to play close to a full time dummy half role. Manly must not see Simpkins as their future.

At Parra, if he was to join before the deadline, he would be starting on the bench and coming on when Ryles thinks Smith needs a stint. Close to the same predicament he is in now.

I'm on board to sign him but not pointing fingers if he joins another team. If he wants to play more minutes and not share such position than unfortunately we may miss out.

        • Again as I have said for a while now, if we were signing a back-up Hooker we ain't going for Da Silva. We are signing Da Silva to start. Simple as that. If we wanted a 14 you can get a decent Hooker in lower grades or wait for Coinakis to develop in a year or two.

Now Manly have Simpkin but Tevaga is starting this week so yeah he will start straight away for Manly, but would with us too.

But more so a club who have no certainty of a coach for 2026 is more attractive then Parra? That'll do me. Good luck to him but god help us. Not so much missing out on Da Silva if it happens, as Smith is fine, but if we can't get him how we going to get anyone else worthwhile?

"Only tiny difference is we must of offered less years. I reckon we match Manly for years and close to money with Da Silva. Garner was probably offered 3 years by Saints and we only offer two that one i am ok with funnily enough. But still a miss…"

"Nah he was on a podcast and he mentioned a Warriors player and a secretary and the player is sort of trying to get out of it. Then Walker was released about 2-3 weeks later."
