Interesting choice that's for sure. I would have thought they were trying to lessen the pressure on Dylan. I was thinking Hopgood may have been in the frame.
Hopgood should be next skipper of the club so would have been good pick. I guess they want Dylan to be the leader and take control of the team.
I don't believe Hopgood should be next Captain, he's a newy and Dylan has been here since he was fifteen,it's between Mitch and Dylan when Gutho retires
We will just forget he was recently done for sexual assault and before that was boofing birds in public dunnies. Not exactly captain material . Especially for a club that's previously had convicted rapists , convicted sexual assulters and peadofiles on its books. I think another direction would've been appropriate as it kinda sets a tone that we are ok with it. I can't think of another club with more current or ex players that's been charged with serious sex crimes ?
He has some growing up to do no doubt about it. But on the field he seems like someone who can be a leader. Just hope he grows up off field

No , never wanted to be either. I'm not the type. Far from it actually. But I have played in teams with fantastic captains and know what one looks like. The best player is more often than not , not captain material. Not that I'm saying I was the best player, but we seem to think that best players must automatically be the captain.

My opinion is the best player does not automatically qualify as the captain. A number of best players don't end up being the best captain.....great example would be the English Cricket Team, Steve Edge closer to home.
