To be fair Hugh, a bit different. There was never really an issue with JAC's attitude to playing. He had a few injuries for Canterbury over his 2 years there but it was never a case of he was hot or cold, injuries effected his play. Then off the field issues accumulated to his release.
bit of a stretch, but you could argue his output / effort (lack there of) could be around his recent ankle injury.
if he was only earning $500k at GC, it wouldnt be an issue. if Parra can get him for around that figure and thrown someone in a similar position, that maybe deemed to be surplus, then id suggest sentiments towards him may change.
i reckon theres a bit more to this story with him and Desmond.
It is not a stretch at all. Fifita for years has had concerns about effort and going missing in games. JAC never had that at Melbourne and went off the rails at Canterbury due to being back in Sydney with influences and injuries. JAC never had issues with Ciraldo or other coaches. They got sick of his antics.
You are right in the sense that many here didn't want JAC and he has worked out. I am in favour of getting Fifita in but he is Dr. Jeckyll and Mr Hyde most weeks. Can Ryles get a bit out of him? We will have to see but i do agree something has happened to between him and Des.
But overall, the situation of fans not wanting JAC and Fifita can be compared not the situaitons of why those players are not wanted by their clubs.
most players would be managing niggling injuries throughout a season, this is Fifi's list of injuries from last 4 seasons,
2022:
April – Suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain (partial tear) in his right knee, sidelining him for up to four weeks and ruling him out of State of Origin selection.
2023:
December – Sustained a partial pectoral tear during training, requiring surgery and casting doubt on his availability for the start of the 2024 season.
2024:
March – Missed the season opener due to ongoing recovery from the pectoral injury.
June – Returned to play after recovering from an ankle injury that had kept him out of the previous week's match.
2025:
January – Underwent ankle surgery following an injury sustained in late 2024, casting doubt on his availability for the start of the 2025 season.
February – Made a surprising early return to participate in a pre-season trial match against the Brisbane Broncos.
May – Ruled out indefinitely due to an ongoing ankle issue, with no clear timeline for return
seems like he just gets himself over one injury and incurs another. Ankle seems to be injured a couple of times already, could the Titans have been rushing him back too early?
Rushing him back via the bench though. Johns and Lockyer brought up his form is not up to scratch for a little bit. Could it have been Holbrook being sacked that hindered him? He like Holbrook, nearly going to Roosters where he is assistant.
He played 82 games in 4 years not enough to the point where he was recovering from long term injuries. Niggles? Sure but many players get niggles every year, hell it seems Junior Paulo has been playing hurt for years yet people here want him gone
He still managed 80 mins in Q cup over the weekend. He is being called out by experts as well. He's not happy and that's fine but JAC was seen more poison due to off the field mainly.
Plus his one good game this year he was on the left. Rest have been not great. Think there could be some validity to the claims of wanting left side, more to it than just that though.
"I didn't realise it was cheating. Poor sportsmanship maybe. But not cheating. Interesting to see if other clubs start doing this now too. Will some clubs start spraying Canola spray on the ball"
"You can't just buy a Premiership. Even if we used the spare money we have now saved, we would still have a team filled with new players, who will take some time to gel. That's the fact we need to accept. Forget about the past and how long it's been…"
"1 ounce of foresight solves this puzzle. We have zero foresight. Think about it. We let our local product walk because his path was blocked, only to find his path was merely 12 months away. It's laughable stuff. If we do get Galvin for 2026 it will…"

from memory similar comments were made about the recruitment of JAC, thats turned out ok.

his numbers playing for Ipswich, against Northern Pride ;
9 runs for 58m, 3 tackle breaks
19 tackles , 0 misses
1 error.
Tallis himself, worked a bit with GC said he needs to work harder, so something there with Fifita and someone needs to get best out of him somehow.
Rubbish JAC is worth every cent we paid Anyone who said that's a fool
100% correct & many others. It just shows some here know fa.
