I have been keeping a close eye on the performance of Moses lately, one concerning stat I have come across is that over the last 3 years he is only producing a try assist every second game on average.
I'm a little bit concerned by this stat to be completely honest, Jonah Pezet has only played around half the games Moses has this season and it equal on Try Assists, Brian Kelly who is a winger is also level with Moses on even though he has missed two more games than Moses.
For a bit of a comparison, Dean Hawkins last season in his 12 appearances was up near an assist a game.
Leaders in this area over the sample years are:
2024 - Ben Hunt (Dragons) = 1.4 Try Assists per game
2025 - Sam Walker (Roosters) = 1.8 Try Assists per game
2026 - Tom Duffy (Broncos) = 1.5 Try Assists per game (only played 2)
- Jerome Luai (Tigers) = 1.4 Try Assists per game
This leads me to ask, what are the key responsibilities of Halfback?
For me I want to see good Game Management, Creativity and Match Awareness in a Halfback.
Moses has the best long kicking game in the competition, there is no doubting that but I have been noticing lately that his short kicking game lacks any sort of real creativity.
Defensively Moses is one of the better Halfbacks in the competition, when he came from the Tigers he was an ordinary defender but he has really improved this area of his game.
Moses is stated as being on big money, are we really getting true value out of what Moses is giving us ?

Very concise!
Moses is still hampered by his groin injury. He very rarely runs the ball. I noticed at least 2 or 3 times against the Warriors we had quick play the balls, Moses received the ball with space to run, this was always a situation where he used his speed to get on the outside of the defender and create an overlap, instead, he just passed the ball.
Yeah that groin issue could be true too, MW. Hard to manage blind side raids when your acceleration is constrained. His goal kicking is now fundamentally unreliable as well, so that might be another sign his leg is just not in great shape?
You would think that if he's aware of his injury ( which you'd think he would) and that he's also aware his own performance isn't the same again which he should be if he's being honest and transparent the surely he would also be aware his goal kicking isn't as good as it was then why doesn't he allow others like Pezet ( when he played) and more recently Volkmann do the goal kicking duties as both are very good. Is it a pride thing obscuring his ability to appoint better options than himself. Makes me wonder if the captaincy has shifted his focus the wrong way.
Nah, Moses is not aware of his injury, keep it hush hush, we don't want it getting out.
Not only Moses with his groin, we have Smith with his sternum, which he aggravated on the weekend. Penisini with his leg, and Paulo with his knee. We have too many injuries in the club atm, this is why these players are playing on, but no one gives them any credit for doing it.
Moses is overrated.
Did I mention the one where I became very excited and cooked all the eggs in the carton?
Nope please do
He's always been rubbish at getting repeat sets through his short kicking game and it annoys the hell out of me.
I remember him being really creative in his youth, but now he's a boring robot.
