Brown limited minutes

Not sure what ryles was thinking here. If you are going to push brown out of the halves but him in the centres for Russell. I can understand him wanting to adjust to life without brown but fuck me you play him or you don't. Not this half assed play him at hooker for 15mins.

  • Brown should have been dumped the moment he signed elsewhere. No, Not out of spite. But look, what have we gained by continuing to play him at 6? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. What have we lost? 4 months of Joash's development. He's had 2 full games at 6 in Nrl. And we got exactly what we would have got from Brown, for a quarter of the price. He'll get better, he's a talent, but this is what he needs. Anyone saying developing on reserve grade is the same as NRL is dilusional he needs game time. When Moses is back it's more important. Moses, Iongi, Joash, Smith and Da Silva now need to start stringing games together.

This year was always a write off. You don't go from near last for two years, playing the same outdated defence and attack systems for 11 years and instantly turn it around. So the sooner we start getting our players for next year on the park more together the better

    • I agree with this. I said so at the time when Brown signed elsewhere he should have been punted.  Our defensive issues all stem from our pathetic ball control. It's one thing BA got right when playing Penrith or Melbourne you have to complete high, win the middle and stay in the grind. Be prepared to win it in the final few minutes. The way the Eels play currently they're trying to win it every set.

  • This year is goooooone !

We are equal second last with 8 games left for the season.

Dylan is our history not our future.

Ryles will be judged next year, this year he gets a pass from everyone. Make no mistake his job will be on the line at the end of next year if we have another poor season.

Recruitment team is letting him down missing out on real talent, chances are we are not signing any 1st grade established talent for next year.

Ryles has seen the writing on the wall and has to find combinations for next year. Personally i don't think Joash is up to it, but hey who else does he have for next year. Perhaps Douhei could fit the bill for a season or 2. Otherwise Joash has to get experience under his belt now.

Goodbye Dylan. Time to embrace our baby Eels. We will have the youngest spine in the comp by a long way.

    • Nice post BE, totally agree.

    • The recruitment is an interesting one and I really wonder how effective or if they have little say as we might think and JR is the real head of this particular area and everyone just facilitates his decision. It's something that would be an interesting clarification as who does what.

      • Agree Coryn. I read a piece written about Blaize the other day. Interesting he said he was never looking at leaving the Eels and out of respect listened to Penriths Pitch. Apparently he visited Ivan's house and whatever Ivan and the CEO had to say that evening in the backyard was enough to convince him to ditch the Eels and sign with Penrith. Galvin seemed to have a similar experience as well.

'It amazes me the talent we are missing out on just because we can't "talk" to the player and convince him his future is at the eels. Seems so minimal, but obviously we lack a real punch in this area.

  • Brown has no future as the Eels, is that so hard to understand?.

  • Brown to centre. Papalli offers little. We have some real dead word in side. Doorey dumb. Hopgood badly out of form. Where is his offloads? It used to be feature of his game. So disappointed in Lomax. Missed 2 one one tackles and spat the dummy when he dropped the ball with line wide open. Then his winger raced away with ball. Very unprofessional!

I liked what I saw from De Silva. He will have a great combo. with Smith. Bailie finally have a decent centre. Penisini is not the answer but what is available in the lower grades?

We have been killed with injuries and suspensions.  I feel sorry for longi. We have to be careful not to lose him in a few years.

When will we trash the short drop out? Punch it deep down the field. The teams have worked out Lomax  jumps put him back in the centres with Baillie. Penisini as an edge in second half with jordan.

We have 7 games to trial different combos. Nothing to lose except another game.

Bring on 2026 and a major signing!

  • Dylan is not our future has not played well all season. Why in hell is anyone worried about us not playing him.

He has been awful and not taken any extra responsibility when Moses has been out. We haven't signed our future 5/8 and we need to experiment

Jason Ryles in his after match press conference said that Joash is our 1st choice 5/8 going into the future. He also said that he wants to play him there as much as possible from now on to let him develop and build his game.
