Brad Arthur's stroke of genius

I've been thinking about the whole JA on the bench thing and the discussions on this site about it and it struck me!

Brad Arthgur is a genius.

Now hear me out.

What position dont we have decent back up in. Well it could be argued various positions, but half is the key area.

We have decent enough cover in all the other positions, ok maybe not always great but good enough if needed. But the halfback touches the ball more than anyone else (well they are supposed too), so it makes sense you want your back up half to touch the ball as often as possible in the NRL before they really need to step up.

Therefore sticking JA on the bench to come on and handle the ball as a dummy half, hell anywhere gives the kid more touches of the ball in first grade and hopefully makes him more comfortable, so when  he's called upon, as in this weekend, he has had more balltime and gametime then just playing in the reggies.

Surely this must be right (or I might be delusional).

  • But hes been only getting 4 minutes or 0 minutes off the bench, how is that game time?

    • but what a valuable 4 minutes

  • I must be in the twilight zone

  • Excellent thinking Smiffy.. Only problem is Brad Arthur can't count up to 17 that's why he hardly uses all the team even when the forwards are exhausted. The other thing Smiffy, is there are far better options than putting an inexperienced, slow, non talented number 7 on the field. So the only area that Super Coach excels in is nepotism and being a con artist and possibly building up his superannuation fund for him and his family.

    • Yes, as Snake pointed out 4 minutes inst great, but better than nothing

  • wont matter if the kid kills it some the fans will shit on him

    • No they won't but the likelihood of that happening is very slim. I've only ever seen Jake play 1 decent game and that was last year and the Eels were winning  by plenty

  • So we throw 10 games so we can compete better but still lose 4.- and that was a just in case

  • Probably the latter...

    • Yeah always been a bit loopy,
