The SBW factor

i keep reading how SBW brought professionalism and big attitude to training to the roosters in his short stint and they expect the same from Cronk. I look at our situation whilst our onfield performance and training seems to have change with BA at the helm and new board I think those signings of watmough , Foran , Scott and Jennings were the catalyst .

From all reports Hayne has bought into this Motto this pre season , yet he was called out as a coach killer from Hindmarsh last year on the Matty John show and it became fact afterwards to everyone . However when I had read Hindmarsh's book I never got the feeling he wasnt a great trainer who followed diets etc

i put it to you all was Hayne the problem all those years or Hindmarsh and his fellow senior players who set the bar as I see our forward strength and defence the best it has been this century

  • Hayne was definately the problem
    He never used to train
Used to do his own thing
Used to disapear when the endurance stiff used to come up at training.

Every bit of on field success that he had was more justification to himself that he doesnt need to train. And due to his onfield success, his team and coaches were powerless to change his routines
But this then lead to the rest of the team
Jarryds on field success came with only 50% of the hard training that his team mates had to go through,
This caused Jarryd to think he was something special, it caused Jarryd to think that everyone else on his team viewed Jarryd as a God. Eventually the team starts to lose self confidence and rely 100% on Jarryd just the way Jarryd prefers it. From there the team starts to struggle, stop working hard, stop paying attention to detail, feeling like nothing more than passengers aboard the "Hayne Plane" with no self motivation.

Its no coincidence that as soon as Jarryd left Parra, the eels began to heal and players began to reach new levels in their games.

Hayne needs to ensure that he NEVER falls back into his old ways and poison this team otherwise Parra fans will be hunting him down with pitch forks, throwing 20c coins at his head when coming in and out of the tunnels.

On the flip side, he can show his team mates and fans respect, continue to train hard, and when he performs well, dont use that as an excuse to slack off next training session and try to drag ur team mates down and revert back to the old ways of where Hayne is God and Hayne does what he wants.
