Many of you would know I coach a Wentworthville junior team and Wenty has started a campaign this week to raise money for Kurt Drysdale who broke his neck in a recent Sydney Shield game between Wenty and Cabra.
Kurt has had two operations since the accident but still has no feelings in his arms of legs.
I think Cabra is running a fundraiser by it uses a crowdfunding platform and that platform takes a cut of the donations; so Wenty is running their own fundraising effort to contribute as well and make sure 100 per cent of the money gets to Kurt.
We all know Rugby League is a tough game and these accidents do very occasionally happen and when its an NRL player there is a world of support, but not so much the case, when it's in the lower tier of our games. Obviously the rehab or adjustment process is incredibly expensive and a massive burden on the family so I think this is obviously a very worthy cause for every Rugby League fan.
So if you'd like to donate - and even a small donation would be awesome, details are below. On behalf of the 1Eyed Eel community I'll throw in a $50 donation to kick us off but it would be great to see this community do a bit to support a player from one of our great district clubs.
If you've donated, let us know in the comments and lets see how much we can raise as a community.

I'm going to pop this back up here, because I think it's timely given the Alex McKinnon story. So far we've had three donations for $150 and to be honest, I thought we'd do a lot better than that.
And if you'd prefer to use the crowdfunding effort, that's here:

P.S. Given folks at the club read this site, I would encourage Parramatta to liaise with the Sharks (who Kurt played junior reps with) and use our Round 25 match as a fund-raiser for this as well.
Done. $20
done $50
I was there at the game nothing tackle. Very sad
Crikey. Well, someone has to say this:
This has been up for nearly two weeks now. Stop pretending you didn't see this blog. I also tried to pretend not seeing it for a while. But this is real life and we are real people. We need to support the fearless leader in this worthy cause.
