Okay this is my first blog on this website. So here it goes.
Luke Burt is loyal Parra boy. He has always put in a 100% effort into every game. Even the when he has a bad game, you can see him having a go. He never whinges and is a humble fella. Until the Manly game our boys have been pretty poor especially against the Cowboys and the Panthers. Over the past three weeks we have let tries in on the side that the young fellas Morgan and Cheyse have been on. Several in actual fact, I think around 12 or so in three weeks (that includes the Manly game). It was not Luke Burt's side that leaked so many points. He may have let in a couple, but nowhere near the other side.
Yet when Jarryd Hayne comes back in the side the Coach relegates Burty to the Wenty Magpies. Every time Luke is in the side they have a good win and he bags a couple of tries to boot and of course his reliable goal kicking. Luke is a Veteran and therefore can pass on his experience in reading the game and defence to our young bloods. Wether its Morgan or young Tonga, I believe they need to do their apprenticeship at Wenty and bring back Luke who is another try scoring machine.
The way Parra was playing last week, having Burty on the wing may have given us more scoring oportunities than young Ryan did last week. Ryan had a high tackle count, however, when it counted he was not there. I believe he is still learning positional play, but at this point I have not seen him do anything special (like breaking the line). I do not know why Luke Burt is playing in the lower grades. He is not playing poorly. Is this the way we treat our Legends, putting them out to pasture when they are still playing well enough for first grade.
Anyway thats my two bits, now its your turn Parra fans, WHAT SAY YOU?
P.s. its nice to see the passion and loyalty of Tony Bongo. Cya at the game Parra fans. The season is still early and we are only two wins out of the top 8.

Sio and blair are playing well and look like our future stars.
Morgan is in for the injured tonga and I don't think SK is goin to move Blair in a spot when next year Loko will be back. There is no point getting Blair to play center for a year of your going to move him back out next year.
I have one large problem with burt. He can't tackle and shys away alot, especially at fullback.
Moving him to the 14 jersey is a thought though.
I'm not for Burt taking a rookies spot when he doesn't look like he will be here next year.

I agree with you luk2_182 but you have to admit our right hand side is leaking dramatically. The commentators were saying that Manly were stupid not to continue targeting that side when they were scoring points there. Coaches in the modern era study every aspect of play and they will relish a weak side like the one we currently have. I think Cheyse has been solid and with him in the centres and Luke Burt outside him to direct him, we could have a really good combination because Luke Burt is a great finisher. He proved this again on the Weekend.
Look, worst scenario is that we have him on the bench as utility instead Maguire. Can you imagine Luke coming on the field when the opposition forwards are tired. He will mince them up. I like Maguire and we really needed him last year when were struggling in the halves, but I do not believe he is better than Luke and does anything more for that matter. In the last couple of games when Maguire came on, he added very little to our attack. Burty is much more elusive and faster. Luke has given his life to this club and Maguire was a desperate purchase two years ago. Luke still deserves to be in the top team because he still has something to offer. Thats not just loyalty speaking, but reality.
I have read all of the diatribe about Luke Burt but now feel compelled to add my two cents worth.
Rugby League is a business. If you owned a shop and had an assistant who had been there for many years but was no longer up to the job and was essentially costing you money, you would punt them.
There is no denying Luke has been a faithful servant of our club. He has given his all and should be commended. He isn't, however in the best 25 and therefore he is not being picked. The argument that he has been a great servant is one thing but it shouldn't cloud the fact that he is now too small and too slow.
If you don't think so then ask yourself, if he felt that he could go around again but not at Parra (because we don't renew his contract), what other club would sign him?
your on the money big D,, burt has been a fine player for the club, but he is now lacking in a few areas of hes game,, as a bloke hes a fine example of a great man, but to move forward, i think lukes got to step aside, n let the young guys, whose skills are on the way up,ie seage, have a crack....
Nah wouldn't even have him as a waterboy LOL...joking...he's getting old so it's time to blood some new bloods and the new bloods such as Sao Biscuit and Blair Bear are playing okay...maybe as a reserve...
i went to watch wenty last week Burt had a terrible game, dropped balls,tried to get involved but it just didnt happen for him.Kearney was there but i dont think he did anything that said pick me now.I left with 20 to go i guess Burt scored late tries.

I don't know , I love Luke Burt and would be devistated for him if we won a comp and he wasn't in the team, but we have to move on.
Hindmarsh is still in the team because he is playing well so is moi moi.
