Ludicrously expensive sneakers

My teenage son just blew all of the money he's been saving on a pair of $400 sneakers.

More amazing was that they actually retail for nearly double that he just happened to luck out finding a cheap pair in his size online.

When did $800 sneakers become a thing?

Why do kids want sneakers that look like spaceships?

How can I get into this business?

    • Very possibly...

  • They obviously have rockets in them. I saw those in cartoons in the 1970s.

  • I could have got it for him for $50 ;)

  • I do a fair bit of running so I've bought quite a few pairs of shoes. Hoka's are the go I reckon - very comfy, like running on marshmellows it said in a review I once read. Never spent $400 though, a bit over half that is my limit.

  • In my day we didn't have sneakers, we would find two week old road kill roos scrape em off the road and tie them to our feet with rusty fencin wire.

  • My brother regularly buys Yeezy sneakers, which are released by Kanye West, he then resells them for at least 3-4 times more than he bought them for because they are all limited releases. He has on occasion got $3000 for sneakers he spent $200-300 on. I dont understand it personally, but good on him for finding a way to profit from it I guess.

      • Then there are lots of rich kids with indulgent parents that want all the gimmicks, the more expensive the better it must be.

    • This is what he bought, actually! I can be glad then he didn't pay $3000!

      • Haha, did he buy them off a guy in Sydney? Be a bit funny if it was ends up being my brother :)

"I think we all know which way Bellamy would go. He wouldn't want to stay to rebuild. I have said and just a feeling, he is going all out for this year to go out on a high. Then in 2027 he moves into a back room role out of the limelight."

"I hear what you're saying, but I don't want a player in FG that needs to be 'covered'. That will detract from the others own performance. We've already seen that happen. Moses tries too hard to do everything. It doesn't work.
The 5/8 ( whomever that…"

"Anyone else enjoying watching the Storm get raided, or is that just me?
Bellamy will have to make the call this year to stay for another rebuild or leave it to someone else to take over."

"That is actually a very average spine. There's no Katoa type for them to get like Dolphins did and build around them. Sexton is a place holder. Wishart will be 9 unless they cannot get a 6.
Not too impressive at the moment but it is unfair to…"

"By 2027 our spine will be absolutely humming. Iongi will be nudging QLD selection, Smith and TDS will be the sharpest hooker combination in the comp, and Moses will be even better than what he is now.
The biggest unknown is on the 5/8 role, and we…"

"Very average spine thus far. Above average to goodish players only in Meaney, Wishart and Sexton.
Having said that overall our 2027 spine ain't great either: Iongi (very good), TBA (bad), Moses (very good), Smith/TDS (currently goodish but…"

ANY MORE SIGNINGS???

I've been frustrated recently about the work we have been doing in the open market. Jonah's alright for a year and JDB is solid but he's getting old. I feel we need more in the forwards and some a replacement outside back. All I have seen is links…
