Why doubt Ryles ?

Lot of fans are upset with the one year Pezet deal, and I understand that. But let's look at the calls Ryles has made since joining the club.

Gutho and RCG getting moved on immediately got some backlash as well, big call but Ryles was correct. Lot of people didn't like this at the time.

Brought in his own group of players that fit the system he wants to play, might not be big names but they fit the style. Jack Williams Dylan Walker types.

Sean Russell the most hated eel on the roster. Ryles has given him the confidence to be a starter. He's taken that and run with it.

Give this loan with Pezet thing a chance and let's see what else happens around that before throwing all the toys out of the cot.

  • Bulldogs got Galvin, Newcastle got Dylan Brown, Panthers got Blaize (a work in progress also), Tigers kept Douiehi, Eels got an 18 game player who has generously agreed to stay for one whole year to harness experience & learn all he can off Moses, before leaving to play with the defending Premiers.

I can understand why Eels fans are throwing their toys out of the cot, Eli. Personally, I'd like to throw the entire cot out the second story window.

    • Moses has averaged 10 games a season for the last 3 years. I just don't see any downside to having Pezet on our roster for 2026. We maintain full flexibility to search the market for other options as well.

      • It's not what he will provide next season that is the issue It's what happens after that and the fact we will be preparing a player for another team with absolutely zero long term benefits.

It reeks of ryles helping a mate out as pezet didn't have a contact for next season.

Ryles has fallen so far in my eyes he is going to have to re-earn the trust i had in him.

        • That's the part where we have to wait and see where this goes. More movement will have to be made, bascially all this move has done so far is replace Hawkins with Pezet. Just need to wait and see what the future moves will be

        • How do you know there is zero benefit to Parramatta? When the deal hasn't been done yet, let alone the mechanations of all other player movement around that in 2026 and 2027?

          • That's what I'm saying a ball hasn't been kicked yet 😂 let's just give it a chance lol

        • We using Pezet more then he using us we jabe no 6 and no backup if Moses gets hurt

          • Broncos actually in the cuck chair watching every game hoping he plays well and doesn't tear his acl again 😂 this is a free swing for us

        • Yep, great point and that is what doesn't sit right with me. We were not that desperate as though i do not rate Joash at 6 he is ok for the year til Talataina is ready.

But the part about Ryles helping a mate. I mean who knows but there are common threads. Brown hiring, Gasnier being brought in for a little bit, De Belin signing. Links to Dragons. Now Pezet with Anasta. If he keeps going it will undo him quickly.

But i saw someone right he is helping his mate Bellamy. Lol how does Bellamy benefit from this?

      • So, we are still searching?

What does that say to our juniors who we didn't want Pezet to block (even though it sounds like we tried to block their path with Pezet & failed)?

What does it say to Joash? Who brought more energy & Eels DNA than any player last season?

What impact does it have on the group, who saw DB dropped, a player who had given 9 seasons to this club - and 100% impacted this teams chance of winning - now seeing a player who definitely isnt committed to the club, come for the 5/8th jersey? Not even his natural position.

Pezet is not replacing Hawkins, he is playing first grade, Pezet coming to play backup makes even less sense than this deal.

What are the positives of this? We may win 2-3 more games in 2026, and that is a maybe.

As HKF said, it's not about 2026, we need to be looking further down the looking glass.

We aren't winning a Premiership next season. We are looking at 2027/2028, and it will be in Moses' twighlight years.

Despite opinions on here about DB, we have essentailly replaced him with a player who really doesn't want to be here, who is half the player, and not a 5/8th.

It's very rare that a signing comes with so much risk & so few positives, but only the Eels could nail it.

"I think we can all admit this deal is weird. I've never heard of any other club making this kind of deal before. This is off the back of the other weird deal we offered DB, which no club had ever offered before also. Why do we stitch ourselves up…"
