Whats up with our D

Last 3 games combined we've had 76 points scored against us.

All off-season we hear BA talking about our discipline in defence, we've worked hard on our defence all pre-season blah blah blah.

Who is our defensive coach?

We need to make some adjustments with our D. Take the weekends game for example Kaysa's attempted tackle on Cotric was actually embarrassing. Yes he was fatigued from making 40 odd other tackles, but that attempt was so poor i question why he was even on the field.

Some changes need to be made, i dont think they need to be major but some changes need to be made.

The 1st 2 games we won because we dominated in the forwards, we dominated field position and everything the boys did, they did it with confidence.

I would start with Vave, Frank the Tank and Brown. Once Edwards come back he will slot straight into the 17 as well.

We're just lacking some direction at the moment and i think that has more to do with the fact that we dont have an experienced hooker as well. Kaysa tries hard, he just doesn't have that extra quality you need from a dummy half.

  • Defense reflects attitude
    • Correct - at the moment their attitude i wouldn't say stinks but its starting to head that way. What will be the result is a lot of these young inexperienced guys will lost interest.

  • I think we missing Danny Wicks

  • I totally agree Precious. So often we have worked into a good position (or on the way to one) only to drop the ball or give away stupid penalties. This is putting pressure on the defence which must cave in eventually. The top teams rarely do that and that's what we need to emulate.

  • It's a paradox because if you don't push a pass you rarely break down the defence. We have bought Brown and vave especially because of their ball playing off loading ability. BA has given them licence to off load when attacking a line yet complains when they drop it. Of loading is a high risk high reward gameplan.
  • It's all about attitude.
  • There's pushing a pass and then there's the type of shit Mannah did to turn the ball over early in the game. Two blokes in the tackle who practically had him past the horizontal and he tries an off load. I love the bloke, wonderful servant of the club, but ffs, not the sharpest tool in the shed...

  • Line speed. We need to get in their faces and cut off before they build momentum, you control the ruck better.
If they build up steam, they are harder to tackle, they make more post contact meters, dominant the ruck and end up in better field position to pressure us with there kicks
  • Nothing wrong with our D - if you ain't got it, it can't break on you.
