What’s the Deal with De Belin?

We’re down to a third rate squad, yet he’s still coming off the bench. Is he carrying something, or just not in favour at the moment?
He was brought in as a key signing and used to play big minutes at the Dragons ...  I know that doesn't count for much, but still.
Feels like he hasn’t really been given a proper run this yet. Did Ryles realise he bought a dud early in pre-season? If so, it’s starting to look like a pretty expensive miss.

            • Agree again Mitchy, Moses's greatest asset is his kicking game in my opinion, he has the ability to shut teams down by building relentless pressure and grinding a team into the ground, for some reason he isn't interested in doing that this season.

I think Moses has been outplayed by his opposite number in every game this season.

Just keep it simple Moses, steer the troops around and win the territory battle, then let Walker come on and have plenty of support players around him and let him do his thing.

              • Mate, it's a fairly simple game and I know we or I am an armchair critic, but when he was kicking well last year we did well; to me Moses hasn't been fit all year and maybe he brought this into the season and it's been compounded now. He has Volkman who is a decent backup too - as you said he only needs to talk / organise them and make his tackles / kicks.

            • I don't think Moses was happy with his Titans game either. Interestingly, though, Moses fell off Kini to concede a try and the whole discussion was "see, Moses' form is down". But when Clearly falls off a tackle against the Dolphins, not a peep.

Basic scapegoating theory will tell us to expect Moses to come in for critique when the team is not performing, but I don't see that Moses is responsible. Except for getting peeved at his troops not doing their jobs, which apparently is poor leadership. Of course if Moses was NOT getting peeved at them for not doing their jobs, his leadership would be questioned. See basic scapegoating theory.

              • Prof Daz, there's a difference between the teams mate. Penrith have been going gang busters and us not.
I feel Moses hasn't been near his best all year as I've said above and he needs to be.

                • This Moses hasn't been happy in years playing for Parra despite what he's saying on TV.He's been injured and the form and turnstile of talent leaving the team has to very frustrating for him.

I'm just waiting for the asking for a release happens will it happen I don't know but would I be surprised no I wouldn't.If this team continues the swan dive south of the equator best believe it'll be on the cards.

I still contend that this club has NFI what or how to build a premiership consistent ready made contender. With Moses playing his 9th season here and seen the promised land a GF once I am not going to be surprised in the slightest if he just goes to JR and his PA and says hey guys this isn't working can I have a release.

              • I agree Mitchy, but every one seems to miss the point, he is trying too hard with "impotentence" a problem with Pezet....unfortunatley Volkman is in an unenviable position of Moses carrying a groin injury and his attacking potential limited, JAC being injured and Kelly being Kelly in the centre/wing.

I think you may see some difference this weekend, maybe only a 20 point drubbing, given that Russell reunites with Penisini and maybe JAC being fitter. Moses groin injuries, groin's being what they are, you may not see a running game from him for the rest of the year. The other unfortunate thing is Volkman is probably a better back up 7 than a 6, because his defence is also a liability. Ironically Joash is a much better option at 5/8 but alas we would then have no fullback with iongi and Twidle injured.....

      • Bang on!

  • I liked this signing when it happened and I actually support JR for the decision. It's just unfortunate the rules have changed and now it's too fast for him. Under last years rules I recon he would have been a great addition and the trials showed it the way he controlled the ruck with his defence. I know some on here will think I am stupid for this opinion lol

    • He reminds me much of Watmough. The year before we got Watmough he was playing decent. Then fast forward a year and the regression hit so fast.

Everyone dug in and fought hard. Even Brian Kelly had a good game and was busy. Set up a nice try for Joash.
