Dylan Brown debuted for us at 18, Blaize was in a sg ball grand final then debuted the year along with Ethan Sanders, along with Matthew Arthur although he was still quite raw and for the raiders Ethan Strange debuted the next year after playing U19 state of origin then taking over from Jack Wighton. Lorenzo just went up to Jersey Flegg and killed it in his first game and could be in NSW cup by the end of the year.
We don't have to throw him in right away maybe a few months into the next year if he is receiving the proper development but I just don't think Sandon Smith will be the right choice for us and we can probably use the money elsewhere, it could also make our Juniors coming through like Lorenzo to maybe look elsewhere as they are around over a year for their Nrl Debut.
If we were to sign someone I'd be after Tyran Wishart and if we do maybe try and get him over a year early by transfer fee or player swap as he is on the same money as Galvin at the tigers. If Tyran Wishart does come over we can still put Lorenzo at 6 when he is ready and Tyran can play 9 or else with his versatility.
I feel like missing out on resigning Dylan Brown, then missing out on Lachlan Galvin, now we are after Sandon Smith shows that we are rushing the five eight signing instead of actually seeing the best half to match with Moses. Maybe we should wait till the off season and choose the best option for us long term even if we get them in 2027. I dont know what do you think?

I will say, it is funny how after the Newcastle trial, people preclaimed "Brown who?" after Volkman played. Pretty much saying release Brown now and sign Volkman up.
After two underwhelming games, where Volkman was thrown to the wolves with both Moses and Hawkins absent, he struggled against Melbourne and Wests Tigers.
Now, not one mention of him being in running to replace Brown.
One thing i am concerned about with Wishart, similar to Pezet, is could their form be being apart of the Melbourne system?
Talataina however is quite impressive with going from SG Ball to dominating starter at 5/8 in Flegg in matter of two weeks.
You answered your own question LB.
Volkman hasn't been given the opportunity to play with our best team on the field.
What did you expect from him guiding a very under strength side after 2 years out of the game? I think he did extremely well under the circumstances.
That is what i am saying, we haven't given him a proper chance at 5/8 and everyone loved him in trials and flicked him after 2 games where the entire team was rubbish.
👍🏼
What's Parra his 3rd or 4th club never felt Volkman myself.IMO your looking at a backup at best unless you see late blooming qualities.I no this if he's our future at 6 the bars very low.
Parra is his 2nd club
No it's not he's been to the Roosters North Sydney Bears and Warriors before he got here and he may have been somewhere else also but Parra is at least his third club.
I am not saying he should be considered but everyone just dropped him after 2 bad games where everyone else was bad. That is the issue with fanbases they get flavour's of the month, drop them quicker than they loved them.
Pretty standard round here that narrative for me though Volkman is a journeyman and that's not a bad thing I believe in the end the ESL beckons.
Hooray the voice of reason.
