There has been a lot of talk about how many Parramatta juniors are going well at other clubs, but I would be more concerned about why we drop off so badly after the juniors. Apart from the 1st year of Toyota Cup, where I think we finished 4th, we have been rubbish since...

You generally find that if you have a team with a lot of Under 19 players you struggle, last year we should have done much better but our defence was just woeful. That side should have figured in the finals with all the talent they had.
But in general we haven't had a truly outstanding generation come through for a while now.
Plus take into account that quite a few are on next to nothing compared to what other clubs are paying.
I would love to see the strategic reasons for the development of this comp to see if all has been achieved. I would be surprised if it is working.
To come out of SG ball & only have a few years to make the quantum leap to first grade is just not enough time. There needs to be more time to develop players to be ready for first grade.
When all the U20 sides are continually turning over ever few years, you get no cohesion. That’s why the standard is crap. At U23 it would give players a lot more time to develop & the standard would increase 40 to 60%. I know this doesn’t solve the reasons why Parra are terrible, maybe as already posted, crapp coaches due to cost cutting, players being poached, infighting etc. Whatever the reasons it is we need to find them out ,’cause there is no doubt we are underachieving in the whole U20’s comp.
On another note relevant to the U20’s
We are burning our players out when we expect a 21 year old to play against the very best at a much higher speed, intensity & aggressive level that they have ever played in before. Remember they are 21. They go from playing against kids there own age to playing against the Gallens’s, White’s Thaiday’s, Fui’s etc
In closing, the development of a U23’s comp would also give the fans a much better football experience and may encourage more people to come to the games.
