Yeah this came out months ago. I understand it's business, don't want to go on a BA Target post, but the way he handled that was piss poor. Now could happen at other clubs too and we don't know.
But see here's the thing too Michael, media and co put up a fight about how the club disrespected Gutho, yet Mannah who played over 230 games got treated worse. But is it because it was BA it was ok?
I had a lot of respect for BA, I do believe he stayed a year too long, and I think he was more a mate to his players than a coach. People say he bled B&G, I don't think you will ever see him anywhere near the club again. He knew his son Matt had a great opportunity to establish himself at Parra, he had no one of any note in front of him, yet he ends up at his best mates club, Newcastle. If he loved the club that much he would have told Matt to stay put. Management seem to have seen the light, I think they are partially to blame, they seemed to give in to BA, probably because of his closeness to the players, they didn't want to rock the boat. I think under Ryles, he has set a foundation on which we can build. We have a team very capable of making the 8 this year and I believe we will be in the hunt within 2yrs.
I mean it is a touchy subject since he is gone now and we should all move on, but i do agree about MA and JA for that matter. BA was bitter about his sacking, that is a very normal human response.
But thing is, he did this not only to Mannah but Brown as well. He also did similar to Fui in 2014. I understand the approach of wanting him gone so they make it where he wants to leave and they accept as oppose to tapping him on the shoulder. But to just not talk to him and make it uncomfortable for a player to be there when they did not really do anything wrong is bush league at it's best. Now if other clubs do it i still have same opinion.
As for BA being mates to the players, he was to certain players, mainly the clique of veteran players who then kept the rest in line. According to Mannah.
Well said LB. I'm not a BA hater by any stretch of the imagination but when you look at it objectively for someone that is publicly perceived as a "players coach". Mannah, Brown & Fui were all treated poorly by BA.
Getting dropped from first grade is no big deal, water under the bridge now...

But to not talk to the person, that person being a veteran and former captain? Would he have done that to Gutho? Hell would Ryles of done that to Gutho had he stood his ground and stayed for 2025?
I understand the ploy, make them feel uncomfortable and it makes them want to leave, making it easier to move them on. But still poor form.
LB when it's all said and done, Tim Mannah is held in high regard by Parra fans and supporters, the club etc - Now BA was more concerned about being a career coach, putting the club first was never high on the agenda - I never really rated BA, it's still mind boggling trying to understand how he managed to coach for so long.. anyway, Mannah is Parra through and through I wouldn't say the same for BA.
"There's no quick fixes when a new coach comes in I mean did I see us running last no I didn't but he is right .The teams minimum 2 years away from being consistently competitive that's not winning the comp either. This is just the reality you sign up…"
"Very dissapointing if true as Bailey was one of our best every time he has been on the field this season. Hopefully it's not too bad and he can get back and play some consitent footy as the side is better when he is playing. I would go as far as to…"

It backfired on BA, he wanted to go with Stefano, look where he ended up, quite comical.
