Thoughts on the Eli Kaota brain injury ?

Crazy that he was allowed to step onto the field after the shot he took in warmups. He was basically knocked out for a second. Storm might be able to seek legal compensation from Tonga for it ? Im not even sure if he'll play footy next year or ever again?

  • Extremely sad for Kaota, and devastating for him and his family.

This is a huge blight on the game and incompetency all round. How the heck could he be allowed to have played? There will be ramifications here and the NRL need to be v explicit (without coaches vested interests here) in defence and how tackles are done. We do not want touch footy / oz tag and head collisions will / can occur, but the need to be looking at this and making some calls on tackles etc.

Parents, particularly mums will start to turn off and not let their kids play.

  • I just saw the warm up hit and now I am quite upset. He was fed to the wolves

On-field it probably would have been cat1.Sending him out there was risky but leaving him out there was a terriblefailure in duty of care

Not removing him after the second hit is a disgraceful decision in and of itself. The third hit causing serious injury may see it rise to Criminal Negligence

I feel sick for the young man and his family

    • Absolutely Randy, very disturbing.

I don't buy this. They must have saw he was incapacitated and very dazed after the warm up hit. Then not only did he run out and get another concussion 9 minutes later, but he was allowed to enter the feild a third time.  The duty of care was negligible

    • Tonga would not have enough money to pay him a years salary......forget liability examine the costs.

  • Wow

    • Sorry I am putting my contrarian cap on.

What's new that we didn't know. A mistake was made ......many are accidental, obviously this one in particular. Fingers were not out and so we are where we are.

Someone must be to blame, otherwise we wouldn't have the blame game!...... can we ever ban the "blame game" causes a lot of trouble and misfortune!

Its typical of human being's to find blame for all the ill's of the world.....in the mean time half the world is starving, we have about a dozen wars going on.....this is a professional sport much better controlled than many.....yes its dangerous, don't want my kids exposed, then again having swim is dangerous from Sharks and Wether. A boy got killed last week in the cricket nets of his local club, can't believe this is not a regular occurence. Soccer plays, apart from their feet they use their head as a major weapen. We have sky divers, motor car races, bike races.....all in the name of sport.

Head down bum up is a regular occurrence in our life.....Rugby Leage players, a game played by bums who are thugs, Rugby Union, a gentlmans game played by thugs.

Everyone can go get on their high horses, god knows how many brain issues emanate with 1EE supporters.

OH! I haven't mentioned Alcohol, Smoking , Drug Taking .....you name it, trying to be politically correct in these processes is impossible..... a duty of care well run and administrated is the best we can do....as soon as we start suing everyone then the litigation raises a much bigger concern than CTE!

In the interim everyone can watch the game and laugh about bring back the "Biff" and the big hits of the weekend and protect their own heads.....by carefully placing them in the sand!!!

  • How the hell wasn't shoulder to the head not picked up by the coach? I mean fuck me dead, his head almost left his shoulders such was the level of impact. Sweat flew everywhere and somehow he was ok to play.

I just hope the guy is ok and it doesn't end his career
