So i have stated for a while that Parramatta are in a tough spot with Arthur and where to go, you could not go into 2022 and players off-contract having his deal ending that year is not healthy for a club to run with. Unless it is a South Sydney scenario where there is an heir apparent waiting in the wings to step in. It was either, you move on or you extend for at least one more year, no middle ground.
So what did Parramatta decide on? extend, but for two years not one. Now being fair i will say i am not overly thrilled with 2024 as oppose to 2023 as i felt 2023 was suffcient enough to set an example of what we want from him and gives us a chance to move on without a massive payout if we see fit, but i can understand why 2024, that is to re-sign the players we want and add stability 2024 looks more secure than 2023 of course so it is a good look on the negotiations, we seem to have our junior system going and atm we are a team of development and recruiting, and whether you like it or not Arthur is a massive key towards players staying. Now if we have a bad 2022 then they have an issue with media noise like this year and a two deal instead of one having their hands tied to keep him if they decided they did not want to anymore, but i honestly believe it will not be the case so should not worry about it. Had we beat Penrith, then a two year deal would have been derserving as we improved, but that is me.
So am i a BA fan? well not really but he is the coach of my team and i have to suck it up and hope he can prove me wrong, and to be honest he has proven myself wrong at times, there are times i speak to the heavens to have him move on and times where i give credit and acknowledge he did a good job in an area or with preparation. The penrith game yes was led by bad ref decisions, though i believe depsite that we had a chance to still win it, though thinking over it having a chance to still win it agaisnt Penrith is still pretty good. So i am happy with the re-signing, not really with 2024 but knew why they did it and now it is time to accept it and see if the juniors we are bringing in can develop and lead on a penrith like path.

Yeah you could see Hollis struggle due to limited game time, though Penisini is an exception and hope others may follow suit and become quick learners.
But yeah Wong, though i am not thrilled it is 2 years i understand why it is 2 years and i imagine there could be incentives in there based on performance.
I feel much the same LB..Tidy up a couple of things and it may be a different year next year
Having sat in the crowd after that dubbing by Manly at Kawana I was totally done with this idiot. With his front loads, and his collision chasing. Another 3 years of this same crap.
For the first time in my life, hearing this news made me contemplate moving to another team. The new 17th team may just be it as I'm up here on the Sunny Coast. The Parra board can stick this decision up their arse.
Yeah agree. Jesus, what about the nineties, the early seventies, the sixties, the fifties. This is a fecking walk in the park compared to the shit that went down back then.
Imagine changing teams and then the team you supported ends up doing better than your new team. Gold.
Supporting the team through the fifties and early sixties when we owned the spoon was tough but fun.Any win was like a grand final. Then one day we signed Ken Thornett. WHOOPEE !!!
That's the thing about the Mayor - I never ever saw him drop a ball - ever. Wonderful player and if he played for Souths or one of the more successful teams of the era, he would have been an immortal.
The best player I have ever seen and .. I've seen a few.
I can remember one bad miss by the Mayor. Not sure of the year but a semi against St George at the SCG. Langlands put up a bomb which he and Billy Smith chased down. Thornet was near the posts and and ran across to catch the ball. He misjudged it, dived, and bounced the ball up in front of the post straight into the arms of Langlands who scored under the post. I think it as Thornets second return to the Eels and was in the twighlight if his career.
You can follow Melbourne then . They have been a home team regularly on the Sunshine Coast last year and this year.
Changing teams ??? How is it possible???
I would walk down the road and cheer for the local pub team if they wore an Eels jersey!
If the Eels aren't in your blood and you want to go - good luck but I'll die an Eel. Probably never see another premiership but that's out of my hands.
I've been a supporter since the early 70's and never barracked for another team. I've lived through all the disappointments from the 1998 final loss to the Dogs, 2001 GF loss, 2009 GF loss and stayed the distance. But to extend this guy till 2024?
I saw plenty of the Storm's games up here on the coast first hand, and I also sat in the stands when Manly tore us a new arsehole at Kawana. Is it too much to ask that we at least have the same professionalism as that of the Storm?
I dunno, see how I fell at seasons start next year. But I'm incredibly disappointed the board have re-signed him. He'll never win us a comp and I think it was time for a change.
