Is that where all our problems lie ? Just buy a Cronk. Learn how to kick. Practise better positional play. Change the coach. Change Peter Sharp. Walla. Maybe ?
OK, we do have an issue with stopping and scoring points off kicks (see Penrith, Roosters, Titans games) & our halves/team seem to lack cohesion often enough. Obviously the penny dropped after the Roosters game because against the Titans we revised Burt-Hayne's positional play at the back and it worked for a while.
However, when it comes down the crunch - in all three games we were beaten to each play that counted, to each kick, to each play by an opposition that was more desperate and hungier, when it mattered.
It's not that we're not hungry, because we started with great intent against the Titans, but they seemed hungrier when it mattered.
So even if we were playing with Cooper Cronk, JT or Prince, they wouldn't of had the opportunity to utilise all their skills, because either we would be stuck in our half backpedalling, giving away repeat sets or beaten to the punch, when it counts, by hungrier teams. Cracking when it counts.
Unfortunately, I don't think being more motivated will be enough either. It's like positive thinking. It's the starting point, but it's not enough. It has to cross over into doing all the simple things with more intensity and desperation than our opponents, which in turn will build confidence, harmony, cohesion and fuel momentum.
