Inclined to agree .....even Webster was embarrassed and when interviewed in the lead in to the show, he intimated that Justin would be very hard to beat.
The whole affair was a bit cringeworthy, I don't know who organise's the thing, but it needs to go a professional organisation to be done properly. If that currently happens, then they should find someone better.
I was thinking that Chief maybe up for the job, he seems to understand management at all levels of loss leading......or in his case leading the losers.
Yeah, Warriors played finals last season and flopped , this year he also made the finals. So even in the reg season I don't see how he improved all that much.
Holbrook goes from spoon to finals and Webster gets it. It's a weird scenario. Imagine Holbrook wins the comp and history shows the guy who went from as low as a club can get to the highest , wasn't awarded the coach of the year .
BA took the eels from wooden spoon in 2018 to 5th in 2019 should he have won coach of the year?, no because not all wooden spoon teams are equal, some are poor roster teams, others are good roster teams that had a combination of poor coaching, injuries and poor player attitude.
If the finals were counted than yes Holbrook is the coach of the year but finals aren't counted.
Yes BA should've won it . This whole place were pissed off at the time that he didn't win it. Which is why this year and that year are a farce.
Seibold won it in 2018 ? Reason being they yapped up his efforts getting Rabbits from mid table year before into 3rd or 4th ? Also the hype was it was his first season.
If finals counted, it should, i would agree that Holbrook deserved it. BA did not deserve it, he was the one that led the eels to the 2018 spoon, not because they had a bad roster, they didn't, they were a top 4 team in 2017.
It was a combination of bad coaching and poor player attitude that won them the spoon in 2018, the same reason the k fights won the spoon last year. The knights roster is pretty damn good, stacked with rep players so going from spoon to 7th isn't as impressive as it seems, getting to the gf is a different story.
The fact this is the first time Nathan cleary has won shows what a farce the dally m's are.
Yes and no, issue with Cleary is there were seasons where he missed a lot of games so he couldn't get points. Also, Edwards and Yeo and the likes would take points off him too.
That is where it is flawed, the fact other players take points off him. Ponga won it because he was the only player at the knights consistently getting points. The 3,2,1 system is flawed, every player should get a rating out of 10 for every game, the player with the highest tally at the end wins.
Maybe because half the team hasn't hit their peak and the other half are close to retirement
Hey at least we had the rookie of the year !. Lol Eels - the feeder club of the year 🤣
