THE BUSH COACH WILL NEVER QUIT 🤣🤣

If Brad Arthur had any decency he would step down and give Eels' fans some happiness.

What’s The Buzz: Brad Arthur rubbishes suggestions he is set to quit Eels

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur fires up over speculation he is set to depart the club and talk that his players lack the fitness to compete in the NRL.

We had a terse exchange when I phoned him last week to ask if he would walk away from the job if his team failed to make the top eight for the second year in a row.

You were on NRL 360 spraying the hell out of me,” he said. “You’re saying I’m not the right person for this job. If you don’t think I can coach, fair enough, but you need to own what you said.”

My comments about his future were made after the Eels’ capitulation in Darwin two weeks ago against an understrength Dolphins side – on a night he himself said “we gave up.”

So I put it to Arthur that there was talk he would quit if the team failed to make the top eight, taking the decision off the club administration.

“I don’t know who told you that rubbish,” he said, “I won’t be walking away from anything. Never.

“I’m not going to walk out on the team. We’ll fight our way out of it. The club can make whatever decision they feel is right, but I’m not walking away.”

Arthur’s Eels have been dubbed the NRL’s 40-minute footy team.

Fox Sports Lab stats reveal Parramatta would be running second in the competition behind the Broncos on a first-half premiership ladder this year. But they drop to 14th for second-half performances.

Arthur denied the players were not fit enough.

“It’s got nothing to do with our fitness or that we’re getting tired,” he said.

“We’re not managing the game properly. We’re beating ourselves with second-half fade outs and we’ve got to fix it. The bottom line is we’ve got to play for 80 minutes.”

The Eels have won just three of their eight games this year.

They have the bye this weekend but then two tough games against the Broncos and Melbourne Storm, both without skipper Clint Gutherson and halfback Mitchell Moses.

    • If I knew I was heading out the door anyway I'd do my best to get punted.

Of course you wouldn't just sever the contract but I'd be doing my absolute best to get paid out early and then back myself to get an even better paying gig.

That's just me - BRAD knows he has Buckley's chance of finding another club to pay him the same amount or close plus give him the enormous power he weilds to coach their club. I reckon he will struggle to land another Head Coaching job in the NRL.

      • I reckon he'll definitely get another gig. Probably at a struggling club looking to rebuild but I'm very confident he'll get another head coach gig.

        • No doubt about, you are backing so many losers at present Frank, maybe time for a bit of "naval gazing"

          • Speaking of losers, here he is.....or should that read there he is.

        • I could easily see him popping up at Canterbury , Newcastle , wests or Souths ( should they miss out on Wayneo) . I think Wests could benefit from him as head coach big time.

  • I wonder if he would leave if they put someone to oversee him on a day to day basis?  I would say yes.

    • Bloody oath Darren. Even give him an ultimatum of we will honour you 2025 deal, maybe even extend til 2026 and further based on KPI's but you need to overhaul your staff and bring in actual assistants that will look to be HC in the future. Even then i think he would say no.

      • What are BAs KPIs, does anyone actually know?

Because they sure as hell don't include performance based metrics....

  • Most think we will be lapped by Broncos and Storm, me included. I think the Souths game will be the telling factor.

Lose to Souths and the noise from the Media will force the board to make a strong statement either backing BA to play out his contract or finish the season and then moved on. I hope it's the latter.

Will Souths wait 4 weeks for Bennet to sign. I think we will finish bottom 4 this season and BA will be moved on. So if not Bennet then who.

    • Maybe that's what the Parra board are hoping for, delay the sacking of BA by 4wks, by then Bennett would have signed with the Rabbits, then the fools on the board will say that they were backing BA to pull em out of the shit they were in, even they knew full well it wasn't happening.
