How come Addo not playing im starting to think Jason Ryles Wanrs us to come dead last with no win you name your best players Available
Like Addo Matterson Cartwright
Cartwright potentially being one of our best players is a big part of our problems.
Agreed
Yep depressing.
With Moses out we are lacking LEADERSHIP.
Dylan Brown is not a leader, he's not even commited to the club, Junior may be a captain but he's never been a leader. He can barely articulate himself.
With Gutho are RCG who would rally their team mates gone, the new players don't know who to look up to for advice. Hopgood has only been with the team for a season but doesnt have the gravitas (yet).
I reme the Fox being very vocal when he went to the dogs. He's someone that out youngers players look towards for guidance.
Ryles must be given his time to fix the team. If anything, with Moses out, it's never going to be easy for anyone. Not even Bennett.
If anything, Ryles has been let down by the more experienced players (JP, Joe O, Penisini, Brown)
The Dogs only won 8 games in 2023. Don't forget that and they had JAC, Burton, Mahoney, Kikau, TPJ among other local talent such as Kiraz, Preston and Averillo.
Yeah Gutho and RCG rallied this team up nearly to a spoon last year. Nobody ever mentions that we nearly got a spoon still with Gutho and RCG. Do we win more games with them? Perhaps but not much, not enough to make semi's. If they are not helping you make finals then who cares. Sorry Parra fan, you are not saying what others are, but some just carry on with that and i'm like they didn't do too much for us last year.
You are right about Ryles though, he needs time. That is why i said i would give him til the end of 2026 at least to form my judgement. Not so much make finals next year but seeing players like Iongi, Samrani, Smith and Tuivaiti and more developing into constant, quality first graders. If that is happening and are improving as a squad going up the ladder a steady pace then i would be open to seeing what he does further. If those guys are not developing as they should be then he is in trouble.
Ciraldo comparison is fair, though Dogs still won games early. They weren't good but not awful like we've been. Plus Gus was there too. But if we beat Canterbury this week, which is never impossible as no game ever is, then all is forgiven for this week. If we lose then face Manly at Brooky well god help us all for next fortnight.
But you are right in that the experience are letting him down. If anything, the ones who are performing are the juniors Ryles is bringing through. All of Iongi, Smith, Tuivaiti and Samrani have been good in their 1-2 games. I do not think anyone here sees any of those 4 as lost causes of players just yet. That is a good sign. But Paulo who leads by example and was only named captain to keep him at the club when Dolphins offered him a deal is not a leader, if anything it burdens him. Hopgood tries but he hasn't even cracked 50 NRL games yet, he is still not a seasoned FG player. A lot for him to be the main leader. There was never really a grooming of a future leader and that is not the fault of previous establishment as we had Gutho and is all we needed and Moses too. Jack Williams can be that guy with 126 NRL games but he is new to being a starter and leader of a club.
If the market allows it, Ryles just needs to get a man for a year or two who has been there done that and can add culture and leadership to the forwards, like Finucane did to Cronulla. Tui Kamikamica is off-contract at Melbourne and is apart of their leadership group. He is an example of an older head that can steady the ship. Or like Dolphins did with Bromwich, someone who can get the ball and make a run to get them on the front foot. Hopgood could be that but he needs to still develop himself as a player.
We need exactly what you posted in your last paragraph. A vocal seasoned old head or two because we've lost tons of NRL experience with Gutho and RCG leaving. If I'm not mistaken, some fan or journo was saying Parra 2025 has the least NRL experience of all clubs.
Simmo 95, Mitch 225, JAC 180. That's 500 NRL games experience we've been missing from RND 1. These absences hurt and leave the team rudderless. Without the aforementioned who do our kids look to when the chips are down?
Regarding JAC absence from R3 team, I've figured it out. Someone posted that on the TCT they're saying:
"If you look at any of the recent training photos of Addo Carr, he’s got two fingers very heavily strapped"
JAC has spent so much time pointing out how shit is the Eels edge and out wide defense that he injured not one but two fingers.
Or fracutred them himself to avoid the embarrassment himself.
I think the game with Panthers against a hot Storm tonight was a good example of how a well coached side with good players can match a team like the Storm filled with experience great coaching loaded with a star roster. Keep the faith
