I think Sandon wont come to us as he be thinking he our 2rd choice but as they said on NRL360 Hes a good player and he will leave now if a NRL spot came up and its just down road so not far from home
And getting one back off panthers

not saying I don't agree, saying it seems the club aren't going that way.
This is my opinion, and why I was against Galvin. But I am more open to Sandon Smith because of his versatility.
I have been really impressed by Dyl Walker, and a player like that seems crucial for us. Not sure if Joash can play that role but Sandon definitely can. As well as 9. But of course Sandon Smith probably won't like such a role.
However, we can sign Sandon Smith for 2 years and then release him. Talataina will play flegg this year and probably some of next year and so won't be first grade ready until end of 2026.
Smith is 2nd choice but he has not many other options in Sydney it seems. If he wants to stay in Sydney and play in the halves he will come to Parramatta.
I would rather Smith at this stage, just more runs on the board. He can play numerous positions and is developing nicely. Cole can be a good product but small sample size at this stage.
If we signed Cole for example i wouldn't be disheartened however.
Smith looks ok but is listed at 5'9 82kgs, tackle efficiency of 84%.
Id rather audition some of the players already on our books. Talatiana looks a real prospect and Id prefer we didnt block his pathway with external signings even though he is still a couple of years off.
It's such a balancing act.. WHen do you sign and when do you promote from within? I kind of like the idea of Smith and his short burst speed at 5/8, but I do like the idea of bring a young kid through that has the potential to do a job well and grow.. I now we bought Iongi, but he's a young kid growing nicely and could be a long term superstar for us.
I guess for me, the other thing now in the back of my mind is, you nuture a junior, promote to top grade and someone comes crashing in and pays overs to take them. No guarantees that we promote within and get to keep them once they've flourished?
You'd probably have more chance of paying the juniors more as they come through the grades and keep them long term, if we weren't trying to pay high money for current first graders?
what a balancing act, especially without hindsight to draw from
No such thing as a 2nd choice in the nrl, all about availability of a spot. 6 jumper is open at eels so he should jump at that.
Yep
I would sign te Marie Martin from the warriors, sign him on a 2 year deal, and wait until our juniors are ready, Martin stats in cup this year 6 games= 15 try assists 9 line break assists, 126 running meters, tackle 95% also can play fullback, and let Twiddle, Fletcher, talatiana to develop, and use the money to get some decent forwards and maybe another outside centre.
So we are going from DB fail on getting Galvin and now we are Sandon Smith Jack Cole Te Marie Martin bound argh Jesus this clubs good fark there good 😂 what's after that a bloke at a bar 😂
nah Old mate Buckets O'Neil is going to lace the boots back up and try his hand at 5/8. Its been his masterplan all along lol
