Jason Ryles has set the record straight at his press conference today. Stating Dylan Brown will either be starting each week or not playing at all, no reserve grade or 18th man commitments.

From all reports he seems to be just a laid back bloke with things, but surely he didn't take this news well. Again, ballsy from Ryles but it seems he is not happy with the performances of course, so unless something happened when the hard truths came out or not we more likely will never know.
But i find it strange how Ryles is going the route of just letting him rot at the COE. Not playing any footy unless starting for FG. His only chance of getting in is if injury/suspension for Papali'i and Smith/Da Silva. I mean he is a veteran of 135 odd games but still need some form of match fitness with 8 weeks left. Not even to have him as 18th man speaks volumes.
I think if anything Darren the fact he is not letting him suit up at all set's alarm bells. Could it be a culture thing? Could be he is kicking stones and doesn't want that around the squad? Doubt it but who knows.
I would hazard a guess that starting at hooker then getting pulled from the field would have been a hit to the ego for DB and probably hasnt gone down well.
Looking back, and Im sure I will be corrected but DB has never really been challenged for his position, he has always been the incumbent and told he is world class. JR comes along and says no one is guaranteed anything, and then backs it by pulling one of the highest paid not unlike what Bellamy would and do and here we are.
Add to the fact DB will be one of the highest paid in the sport and then to be told by a rookie coach hes dropped would go over like a lead balloon. Maybe a little bit of entitlement? But it sends a message for the rest to earn your spot
I dont particularly buy into the whole him being burned out thing, but thats my opinion
Like media stated Brown took it well, I am not sure how you would without putting on a brave face. Maybe he did at first but as you say being replaced as Hooker and riding the bench for 45+ mins would be humbling.
Maybe Ryles is pissed that despite being told he was free to leave before June 30, DB has decided to stay on (which says plenty about how keen DB is to go to Newcastle). Except for Matterson, every other BA discard has read between the lines and walked. Now Ryles is forced to drop him and he becomes a story for the media to latch onto, again. The media are now questioning Ryles decisions, and he's probably frustrated that this could've been avoided.
Every since Matterson signed his 3 year deal, the whole saga has been a massive joke starting from when he flipped the finger at the club and chose a 4 game suspension.
It just shows how Arthur had no fucking idea about club culture and only signed players to save himself
It took Ryles 1 match to work this f....... Matterson out
BA only ever brought in low IQ players who wouldn't challenge his low IQ game plan.
Ryles has learned very quickly which players have been in cruise control for years, not needing to go the extra mile and never being held accountable. Matto and DB would be right up the top of this list.
Low standards had been implemented and it was showing. Low standards and low IQ are are recipe for mediocrity, which is for the most part what BA served up.
Ryles is now initiating new standards for the club, not holding back and it's exactly what was required. Short-term pain for long-term gain. I think it's the best approach considering the mess he took on.
I am not talking about him as a bloke. Seems chilled out guy and great with the kiddies. I am talking about bang for your bucks. His been on big dollars pretty much from the get go provided little for it. Aimho.
If he doesn't play today. I would say more has happened behind the scenes. Furthermore I was saying JR looked pissed in general not necessarily at Dylbags.
Aren't the coach team and fans just paying for a poorly negotiated and bungled contract negotiation.I mean if we had been firm with his player agent around these options and his future from the jump and it was Parra or bust maybe this whole thing goes differently instead of a player announcing like he did playing like the Duracell battery toy that's running out of juice.
I just feel like alot of other things round this club there's not really sufficient no how at the top of the tree to actually no how a successful club operates let alone end a nie on 40 yr premiership drought.

Or he is just that laid back he doesnt give a f*ck, which in itself is not a good indication of where he's at
