I agree Chief, I think he and his coaching staff have done a great job given the talent we have, and how often it has been available. I also think our attacking and defensive structures have improved significantly and the team now shows a lot more grit.
On paper, our forward pack appears to be one of the worst in the comp but Ryles has gotten a lot out of guys like Moretti, Tuivatti, Kautoga, Smith etc. It is a nice change to see a defensive line that actually moves up instead of standing and waiting to make a tackle.
I would also like to give a shout out to Paulo, who in the past couple of seasons I have been very critical of. I think though that this year he has really transformed himself physically and is now a cornerstone of this team and no longer do I curse him for failing to move up in defence.
I think BA did a pretty good job at times throughout his tenure but I have to say over the last couple of years I found the eels very hard to watch at times as our attack was very predictable and relied solely on individuals being able to offload. As for our defence, well I thought it was putrid at times. The number of times we were always a man or three short out wide or couldn't even number up on scrums that resulted in the easiest of tries was painful to watch.
Where'd you find these salary figures? Some of these players seem suspiciously underpriced. Did Gus sign them for us?
