Round One Team Prediction

I reckon one of Matterson and Lane to miss out. The depth in the team next year is outstanding

  1. Gutherson
  2. Simmonson
  3. Blake
  4. Penisini
  5. Dunster
  6. Brown
  7. Moses
  8. Paulo
  9. Mahoney
  10. Campbell-Gillard
  11. Papalli
  12. Niukore
  13. Brown
  14. Cartwright
  15. Stone
  16. Matterson/Lane
  17. Greig

  • Greig over Matto and Lane? Greig is so unfit he can't play for more than 15 minutes. No chance he is ahead of Lane or Matto. I know it's popular to bag out Lane, but BA loves him. Plus he's a decent player, not nearly as bad as all the armchair normies claim.

  • Mine would be

    1. Gutho
    2. Simmo (left)
    3. Waqa (left)
    4. Penis
    5. Haze
    6. Dylbags (for god sake BA, use him on the LEFT)
    7. Moses
    8. Junior
    9. Reed
    10. RCG
    11. Niukore (try him on the left with Dylan and Waqa, this hasn't been tried before to my knowledge, they played together on the right but not the left)
    12. Matto
    13. Papalii (in the middle, this allows Brown to come off the bench as an impact player to increase the tempo after 20 or 30 mins)

    14. Stone (middle tackler and cover for 9)
    15. Lane (middle and edge forward depth)
    16. Brown (middle impact player)
    17. Carty (edge and centre depth)

    • Who would replace him David?

  • H Perham would be a good 14 also, can cover halves, centre and fullback, I think he could offer a bit of X Factor off the bench.

  • It still wouldn't surprise me to see Mitch Rein beat Mahoney out of the hooker role for the start of the season, just due to the fact that Rein has an off season under his belt.
Personally, I'd just love to see it - see how he takes it.

    • I think peoples Mahoney fantasy will be over pretty quickly once Rein gets his shot and we will see exactly why we didn't get into a bidding war for Reed. He's a good little player no doubt , but he ain't all that.

  • A -Niukore is suspended can not be in round 1 team

B I prefer Stone to Rein - i think Rein is only a back up dummy half and does not offer enough as a middle forward whilst Stone can cover middle and edge at a stretch - I think Pernham needs to show Dummy half skills before he will be considered as 14

C IMO Grieg is behind Lane Maka and Kafusi based on last year's efforts he may have upside potential but his efforts on the training paddock will need to be exceptional to pass the other 3 prior to game one

D a hypotheical amongst a hypothetical - we are apparently awaiting the NRL to register Curtis Scotts contract - so lets assume he is available for round one what does that do to backline - Blake to wing ? Blake n Scott centre pairing ? Does Dunster hold off Simmonson if Blake takes a wing spot ? plus other variations

E - and are there any bolters from the Cup side who might surprize

    • Just like you Angel , I have N F I either !! LOL.

      • SSSSLLLOOWW thinkers are deep thinkers

May be we should have sub genre on this site for Deep Thinking NFIs we could be the ambassadors but there may be a few persons wanting and requesting membership - we might need to select a registra to manage membership the job would to much for me i think!

        • Ha I agree with you Angels . Problem is potential short applicant numbers as not many would admit they have NFI . Cheers
