  • I wonder if Nanva and Kelly is a coaching decision or because of contract situation. Kelly's carrys were very important last week as well as that try assist but his defensive reads were poor. He has never really played on the wing either. Just hope he works on it during training. Needs to trust Will more

    • Happy Guymer is starting over Tuilagi. As Muttman said, surely JDB starts over Walker

    • Could be wrong EA, but think its the carries / metres from backfield. They were pretty important, along with Penisini?

You could tell both of them had been directed to focus on metres to help our forwards, and neither disappointed. Its pretty vital with our current pack to get our back 5 moving us forward, and Papalli & JAC aren't big metre players.

Nanva's time will come no doubt, he was great.

      • Yea I agree especially since Russel, Papalii and Fox are not strong in that department.

      • Kelly, Penisini and Nanva all had 100+ all-run meters but only The Fox made the weekly Top 20 player contribution rating, so Fox might not be a backfield metre-eater but overall his involvement is high

        • Penisini is sitting 6th on that list, Daz.

Absolutely, JAC was / is massive, in attack & defense - his strength isn't hit ups / metres, but he's irreplaceable, imo. Very smart player.

    • EA, did the Eels have to apply for dispensation for Nanva? I'm with you on wondering if it was contract mgmt more than form. On form Kelly is lucky Nanva didn't take wing. Kelly's work rate and a few attacking touches were good but defensively there were some unnecessary instances of leaving his winger open

      • They would need to apply for dispensation since he is on a train and trial contract.

  • Really missing Tuivaiti or Dooreys impact off the bench, just workhorses on that bench no real gamebreakers

"Unsure what his playing weight was last year but it's clear he has had some serious body recomp in the off season. Just looks more solid. Similar to TDS, he looks to have put on so much more mass especially in the quads. Let's hope Pryke can follow…"
