Round 1 2026 against?

So i saw a post on FB similar so i will just copy here and get your suggestions.

Who are we playing in Round 1? As mentioned in the post, women's Asian Cup is on during that time with 6 games booked between March 6-10. So Round 1 we will be away. Now we can take out a few who we definately wont be playing.

Penrith - Commbank home too

Canterbury - Vegas

St. George Illawarra - Vegas

Newcastle - Vegas

North Queensland - Vegas

Gold Coast - Stadium used for Asian Cup

Wests Tigers - more likely Easter Monday, if we are to verse them away it would be at Commbank

So that leaves

Canberra

Manly

Dolphins

Brisbane

Cronulla

Melbourne

Souths

Sydney

Warriors

All away. Who do you think we get and who would you prefer to play? I reckon either Roosters or Broncos. I wouldn't mind versing Broncos straight up. Manly at Brooky maybe, something not right there. Do we want a big travel out of the way and maybe go Canberra or Warriors?

The bye is another option which would be weird as never experienced it. I don't know i would rather use a bye into the season to use the full effects of it. Any byes between Rounds 1-5 are useless i feel.

        • Interesting stats LB & Hammer.

In the NRL era, how we start mostly matters. 22 / 28 where we sit in the first-third of the season, inside or outside the eight — say at R10 — correlates to where we finish.

2009 was probably the biggest comeback, being third last at mid-way of the season to win 10 of 11 leading up to the GF. 2006 was a somewhat similar comeback, but we got knocked out first week of the finals.

          • Hmmm, so more than 75% of the time, we can see where we're going to end up by round 10. I'm still going back to check the colour of their boots just to be safe

            • Almost 80% of the time, we can tell by R10. But the teams that make a comeback have to be able to string multiple wins together over months. Wasn't a BA era thing. Consistently Jeckyll-Hyde until they became Mr Hyde more permanently. Haa boot colours matter almost as much as undies.

              • Not if you're Graeme Langlands!

                • Hahaa. What was his secret? I'm too young to know that, Hammer. I'm still a spring chicken in my 50s. No grandkids, yet.

                  • Yeah, me too but it is legendary, regarding the 1975 grand final where he signed a deal with Adidas i think & they made him wear white boots, everyone only ever wore black boots in those days & he had an absolute shocker, cost them the GF & everybody blamed the white boots

                    • It was a painkilling needle he had before the game I believe. That went awry and he couldn't run during the game.

                    • That's what i heard as well, it hit a nerve in his groin & he couldn't feel one leg i think

  • I say we play Melbourne again

    • That would suck but on a serious note, I really don't think they would make us play them in Melbourne 2 years in a row.

"No but then again, Pezet isn't an elite 5/8 either.
He is a halfback that looks good in the Storm system.
I don't see Pezet as that much of an upgrade on Papall'i."

They both have potential but versatility it's Galvin easily he has the ability to play all 3 spots key to JRs system that's why they swung so hard…"
