  • Good to see he recognised that we were probably worse this week compare to the previous weeks with the ball in hand.

    • I'm not convinced we were worse with the ball , if you take out penisini there's 5 less errors.  The team apart from penisini and hopgood were fine in the conditions.

      • They are the team..

  • Ryles didn't look too happy.

  • It's a good sign that Ryles isn't too impressed

    • He has shown that he is realistic about where we are and where we should be heading.  Earlier in the season he wasn't getting upset by our performances as he expected pretty much what he was getting but as the weeks have passed he is now expecting more as he should be.

I really like what I am seeing from ryles,  he definitely is a smarter coach than our previous one.

      • I think most on here would like to see Ryles drop Penisini and give Papalii a go alongside Lomax. I think that combination would work.

I was hoping Penisini got an injury or a suspension, for Ryles to make that change.

        • Papalii would struggle in defence

  • I wouldn't be happy with tonight's performance.

The errors have been there and cost us all season the fact that Newcastle are really really poor saved us tonight. They are a team on the opposite trajectory we are. While it's great having a win Parra really need to make hay during the SoO period. If we can't make a push here we'll consistently be in that spoon discussion.

I mean why is it good that JR isn't impressed what exactly is there to be impressed by.As mentioned we've still making far too many errors and have been since pre season nothings changed.

    • Ball movement & defence were both impressive, imo. The Eels attack looks unique, when those errors decrease and it begins to click more consistently, they will have a lot of points in them.

Half the teams errors were by 2 players

The Eels defence continues to strengthen & look more & more connected & confident.

Newcastle may not be a good side but they still have Ponga & Sharpe who are lightning. Both were held very well as JR said.

Lomax, JAC, Walker & Williams have all been very astute signings. The have made a huge difference.

Every week am blown away by how smart a footballer Dylan Walker is, really had not noticed previously.

"Well he was offered a path at least, maybe not in the position he wanted but guarenteed FG week in week out. Penrith there was never certainty of starting straight away.
Not sure who offered more in financials though. "

"Are you talking about Julio Jones? It was sad seeing him decline the way he did. He signed with Tampa, who i support, it was a shame seeing a shell of his former HOF self."

"Hawkins can be freed up to have more space and time to do what he needs to do.
I cannot answer for EA, but if there is a kid to play 6 now the closest bet would be Papali'i or Volkman. In future Twidle or Talataina could be the future.

"Agreed. But that has to begin at an organisational level, not just the football department.
when staff turnover is like a revolving door, it is never a good sign of stability"
