Perth Bears GM refuses to rule out play for Zac Lomax

Current Perth Bears GM of football David Sharpe has not ruled out making a play for Zac Lomax, saying if the clause is cleared by Parramatta they would pursue him. Well issue is David you have nothing to offer us in order to waive the clauses. It is not like Sydney Roosters coming to us and saying they want Lomax and we can say we want Victor Radley in return for example. They would have nothing to give us. Now in 2028 could they as they have a roster and are a year in? Perhaps but wouldn't they just wait for another year and get him when his deal ends in 2029?

This is a nothing story, i put it up incase someone else chooses too. I wanted to get a head start and just drown it.

    • Reached the highest level ? He saw himself as a centre and reluctantly played wing .
There is nothing surer than him getting sick of rugby sooner rather than later and going somewhere else from there . Who cares where players like him don't win comps often .

      • Played Origin and for Australia. Whats higher than that?

        • Technically there is no higher,

but hes also played 2 finals games in his career .. both at the end of the season he debuted in.. hasn't come close to his potential as a player and hasn't mastered his favoured position or his best postion.  He also changed scenery a year ago. His head is all over the shop. He had a lot left to achieve in the game and won't ever be looked back on as someone who made the most of their ability... wasted talent.

He didn't buy into being the best version of what he could posibly be for the team. Didn't leave no stone unturned trying to do everything he could to be a complete winger and goal kicker. He did things well so went out and did them.

        • Brandon Smith

  • He's gonski, let it go he  didn't want to be here, so......next. While we are speculating, can we Stop, guessing who we should sign, by some followers here .....let's sign somebody....anybody. Desperate much, Sloan please he's a light weight and if he had any go in him he'd have made The dragons team, juniors or a value signing ,

  • There's more to this, why would he spend $4mill on a property in the central coast if he wanted to play in Perth? More to this story.

  • This is my take on zac lomax,  and it's only a guess, nothing more.

When the dragons rightfully moved him to the wing he was unhappy,  you have to work so much harder as a winger than you do as a centre,  those carries out of your own end into the teeth of a forward pack ready and waiting knowing full well you are having the next carry can be absolutely brutal on your body time and time again. To his credit he never shirked his responsibility and was so good he made his way to origin.  He wanted out of the dragons because he didn't want to play wing, I don't believe any other reason. He signed with the eels for less than his dragons deal because he was more than likely promised a centre spot by BA.

Along comes ryles and rightfully moved him back to the wing where he excels. Lomax's attitude seemed to change pretty much as soon as he was moved back to the wing, round 5 against his old club the dragons was when he started showing signs of being unhappy.  Despite his tremendous match winning performance he looked really unhappy towards the back end of that game. Mind you he did pick up a foot injury at the back end of that game so it could have been a factor.

In summary, I believe he just doesn't want to play wing and put his body through the punishment and high workload modern wingers have to deal with.

If that's the case then don't take him back as we will end up in the same situation before the end of next season.

  • Last year it was endless blogs on Dylan Brown now Zac Lomax the guy is gone lets move shall we....who are we signing is vastly more important .....I see the signing goss on Keaon Koloamatangi has gone quiet ....Im not surprised undecided

    • That's the issue, if we were replacing these guys with good talent, or any talent for that matter, no one would be saying jack about either of these guys.

The fact we've signed Didley is what's creating this constant what if discussions.

Fuck them both IMO, but the club needs to get busy and fast.
