Perth Bears GM refuses to rule out play for Zac Lomax

Current Perth Bears GM of football David Sharpe has not ruled out making a play for Zac Lomax, saying if the clause is cleared by Parramatta they would pursue him. Well issue is David you have nothing to offer us in order to waive the clauses. It is not like Sydney Roosters coming to us and saying they want Lomax and we can say we want Victor Radley in return for example. They would have nothing to give us. Now in 2028 could they as they have a roster and are a year in? Perhaps but wouldn't they just wait for another year and get him when his deal ends in 2029?

This is a nothing story, i put it up incase someone else chooses too. I wanted to get a head start and just drown it.

      • There is no bargaining chip with Perth.

The club would just wash their hands of him. I don't think he's as highly regarded in league club circles as he is in media circles. 2 contracts walked out on in 18 months. They don't mean anything to him.

I think a lot of people in the game were pissed off he had his head turned by 360 6 months into a 4 year deal.  He's not reliable , doesnt buy into anything except himself and his own ambitions .. im not sure that makes anyone stronger.

        • I hear you but a lot of clubs would give us someone for Lomax. He's a top 3 winger in the nrl.

  • Does it really matter all I want to know is what's the plan to replace Lomax that's the real issue at hand if it's Simonsson yikes.

    • I woulld say the plan is to shake trees and see if anything falls out. How hard they shake them would depend on how we start the season and how much the depth is being tested.

      • When you shake a tree multiple times usually multiple things fall out. We only shake it once it seems and take what is given.

        • No....we don't shake any fucking tree.

We wait for either the fruit to fall off naturally or wait for a storm. What a club..

          • We get the old half-rotted shit that's left laying around the tree.

      • It's a key spot and regardless of what's being said and portrayed here. The coach and club are putting a brave face on here. They need something better than Simonsson whose not a bad player but we no what we have there.Lomax is a potential match winner losing him isn't ideal for a team on the rebuild. The clubs got to find someone better than what we have.Heaven forbid injury hits our outside backs we are screwed royally.

        • The depth is the biggest issue Coryn. Simonsson goes down, which based on form of late and every year he has been at the club is bound to happen, we have nothing. Only Tago with 8 NRL games experience. That is it for Wingers.

          • Been like that for the last 3 years you'd think someone would have got the damn memo.Yet there happy to let Lomax walk ok what now is the question are they waiting for someone to fall in there laps as it's clear there's nothing in the pathways ready to step up.

I've been asking this question for years why aren't we looking further afield when other clubs are yet we are sitting on our hands.Yet some think JR is doing this by himself please ffs get this man some help.

If you’re in charge, are you honestly throwing out a multi-million, 4–5-year contract without talking to the player about what they actually want to do for those years? For fun?
