Parramatta, NRL to investigate images of rising Eels star

Parramatta has informed the NRL integrity unit after being made aware of photographs circulating on social media of rising star Isaiah Iongi.

This masthead has been sent photos of Iongi seemingly smoking a substance. After becoming aware of the matter, the Eels have contacted the NRL, as is required under the rules whenever a club suspects there is a potential integrity issue.

Parramatta officials contacted Iongi on Tuesday morning.

Iongi is considered a future superstar, nominated as one of the rookies of the year after a breakout season in 2025.

After playing just one NRL game for Penrith, Iongi has made the No.1 jersey his own at the club following the departure of Clint Gutherson.

Story updated: Eels have spoken with Iongi this morning.

  • Sure let's investigate, but if it's false, misleading or some smear campaign, let's consider immediate legal action (at least find the person and send them a letter).

This is setting a dangerous public precedent if no action is taken to protect players, clubs, and the game.

    • I definitely think it's the ex,

  • This was when there was a power outage at the house and he was lighting some candles and incense, right? Right?

The other photo on social media

    • Ok that one is worse. Only hope is saying it is something like herbs.

    • Dude just lighting a ciggy 🤣

    • These look like old images - why would he be punished for this? As others have said, if this is an ex gf etc. and they are old images nothing to see here. But hey PVL will throw the book at him no doubt.

      • The bathtub photo leads me to believe its a ex/partner.

This one looks very bad lol

      • I just hope he's got some new tattoos as of late to prove these are old pics.
