Parramatta players have denied James Maloney's accusations halfback Mitchell Moses faked injury to milk a penalty during a crucial stage of last Sunday's feisty western Sydney derby.
Penrith centre Waqa Blake was penalised for shoving Moses in the back, the ruling costing the home side a penalty in possession and stifling an attempted second half comeback.
Parramatta won the game 20-12 at Panthers Stadium.
Maloney told the Herald: "I've got no doubt there was no issue and he laid down, I've got no doubt whatsoever about that.
"Nobody likes the diving and the carrying on in the game."

Come on Jimmy, you’d sell your mum to milk a penalty
So could the argument be that Yeo was putting it on? When he went down you'd think he went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson, yet lo and behild, he's cleared to play this week whilst Jennings has been rubbed out. Either he was faking it, or the Panthers and the NRL really don't take concussion all that seriously. If he was in the AFL, he would have been stood down this week
...along with his body being crushed by Shaun Lane.
This goes back to last year. You will recall in the same match, the Eels ran up a 14 point lead in a fairly short time. Moses was killing Penrith. The Penrith forwards then went after Moses hitting him around the head and foul treatment on the ground. It worked. Moses was put off his game and Penrith made a comeback to win the game. Moses had a poor season from that point onwards. I might add that the Eels forwards did SFA about the Penrith forwards tactics. Weak as urine.
This years game was similar we went to 14 point lead with Moses taking a leading part. Then into the second half, Black fouls Moses by pushing him to the ground when Moses had his back to Black. My view is that the Penrith players at half time recalled last year and called for Moses to be dealt with again. The Penrith coach, Cleary has some issues with Moses when Moses left West Tigers and took up with the Eels. It could have been Cleary`s suggestion to take out Moses again when he heard the Penrith players recalling what they did to Moses last year. As for Maloney, he`s got SFA reason to cry in his whiskey. He should look at his own record before accusing other players from other clubs. The Parramatta forwards should be told in no uncertain manner what is expected of them in protecting our smaller and/or better players.
The penalty was because of what Waqa did not because Moses was on the deck. Penrith to struggle this season & Molony can blame oppersition players on a weekly basis.
James Baloney is a thug. Always has been.
He thinks because he's the incumbent SOO half and on the players association his opinion carries some weight. He's one of the dirtiest players going around and a disgrace to the position he thinks he holds in the game.
See you later James old boy; you will soon be plying your trade in England. Ask Gus to give you your exit chq because he's already signed it.
It's a comedy show. Cleary gets the boot, 3 years later they sack a coach weeks before Penrith are on the cusp of making the top 4 and certainties to play finals football. They orchestrate a plan to make Cleary’s position untenable and end up paying millions to compensate the Tigers, Griffin and Cleary’s contract. And for what? So, son can be coached by daddy.
I can't imagine the playing group are inspired by the the clubs actions, Clearly is at a hiding to none to gain the players respect, his lost the dressing room before he arrived.
Gould thinks he’s bigger than the game, he went to an all time low and his antics will come back to bite him square in the backside, I agree, the Panthers will not make the 8 and I predict Gould will fall on his sword.
Maloney is just frustrated and annoyed that the Panthersblost to the better team and that Gus Gould is trying shop him around and that the Eels are not interested in him.
Penrith of late would know all about diving , in all its myriad contexts.
Pretty ironic. That said no doubt Mitch milked it, looked like he’d been shot by an assasin. I don’t like it but I’ll take it when it’s us.
