ONE OR NONE?

There seems to be many fans that are not happy with the 1 year deal for Pezet. Personally, I'm not sure that Pezet and Moses will work as a halves combination.  I see them both as creative game controlling players. I think the best option as a five eighth to play alongside Moses is a bigger body running five eighth. I have no problem with the 1 year deal for Pezet if Ryles has another player in mind for 2027. The Eels look a far better side in 26 with Pezet than without him.

So the question remains, if Pezet was only wanting a 1 year deal for 2026, would you prefer the Eels didn't offer him the deal at all?

        • You better start believing it, everything the club has done to date indicates they don't have long term plans, it's all on the fly.

          • Whys that?  Ryles has already fixed up many of Brad's fuck ups, mate he's doing a great job.   The Dylan Brown situation farked us massively another part brad arthur stuff up.

Ryles is running things now hkf,  its just the previous decisions made which need time to resolve

  • Depends on price and role, if he is cheap (under $350k) and set to play reserve grade as a backup 7 for moses in first grade then I'm ok with it, otherwise I would rather we didn't sign him.

    • What pisses me off is that Anasta believes Pezet will be the 6. Does the pre-season not change anything? What happens if Joash and Pezet are equally as good as each other during pre-season? Can we tell Pezet have fun in NSW Cup unless Moses gets injured.

      • Ryles is doing his mate a solid and is going to get him ready to be a dominant player for the broncos.

Ryles has taken a massive step backwards in my eyes.

If we don't have a quality 6 , be it a junior or recruit, ready to start 2027 on fire I'll be wanting blood from ryles.

Were you in favour of signing him prior to the 1 year story came out? I know many 1 eyed members were very much in favour of signing Pezet. I really can't see how or why Pezet would leave Melbourne to be a reserve grade player elsewhere. Surely he has been offered either the starting #6 or #7, or at least the #14. Maybe Ryles has a half-back in mind for 2027 and Moses will become a running five eighth.  In my opinion,  Moses is more suited to the five eighth position than Pezet is. Moses playing #6 in Origin has worked well with Cleary ( a controlling half-back) partnering him. No matter how you look at it, having Moses and Pezet in the Eels 2026 side is the strongest option in the Eels roster. Pezet at half-back is also a better fit for Da Silva at dummy-half. Pezet will allow Da Silva more time with the ball to attack,  whereas Moses demands quick ball passed from the ground. Da Silva's strength is his ability to get out of dummy-half and engage the markers and / or the A -B defenders.

I am sure Ryles has a plan for 2026 with Pezet, hopefully he also has a plan for 2027 and beyond without him.

      • I wasn't against signing him if it was a long term deal. Whilst I don't really see him as a suitable 6 for moses is think they could have made it work and pezet would be the long term replacement for moses eventually.

        • You are thinking Clearly HKF. I see it almost identically to you.

      • Slippery. I am disappointed in your logic, you are normally a clear thinker.

Moses would never want the 6 on his back at Parra....its his sole ambition to wear that 7 at Parra.

The next thing is you allude to the running 5/8 mythology. When he played outside Cleary in that first state of origin last season, he hardly saw a ball. Cleary the controlling half never brought Moses into the game. For you so say that combination worked well is just factually wrong, I can only assume you didn't watch the game or more specifically the Cleary/Moses combo.

You will also note that in the Test Match Moses played, Grant was the dummy half, again they bypassed Moses and Dearden became man of match. Moses may as well not have been there, the same as playing 5/8 to Cleary.

Moses as a 5/8 doesn't work, he needs to run the game!!!

  • Sneak into top 4, Fuck around and win the comp in 26 lessgooo!!!

Agree with the Anasta podcast, we wanted a longer deal and he chose broncos. Bit of a slap in the face and we look like cucks.

If we wanted a longer deal then why is the club now backtracking saying we have good youngsters? or will they go for metcalf or campbell. Some mixed messaging going on.

Love pez, hes a gun but just dont want to be someones second option. I know Papallii aint it yet but fuck he bleeds for the club. Recruit team need a big fish eventually lol.
