Given it is the great Parramatta warrior's 300th game, I thought we should run a tribute thread for people to post their thoughts about their admiration for Hindy and any great memories or moments.
Here's mine...
When I first kicked off 1Eyed Eel, it was just a humble little blog and I thought I'd try and raise the exposure by doing a few exclusive interviews with Parramatta players. The media person at that time was Bonny Scott (who at that time I think had just started dating Nathan) and for my first interview she teed up Nathan as my first 'real' 1Eyed Eel interview. This would have in the 2004 season I think.
I've interviewed a lot of high-profile in my time, but this was the first where I was a little star-struck, but Hindy was so generous in terms of how open and sincere he was, it was such a fantastic interview and I'd count it as one of the couple of milestone moments in running this site that has encouraged me to go on and do more.
What struck me more than anything was his humility. I asked him if he ever saw himself as being a captain, and he said, that he didn't really see himself as that kind of player - he was happy to just do his part and lead by example where he could. I asked him how he would liked to be remembered when he eventually hung up his boots and he said something like 'Just a good player who people felt they could have a chat with'.
For me, that's the greatest thing about Hindmarsh - as it was with Peter Sterling - not only is he a champion player, but he's a champion person as well.

I could blabber on about my experiences with Hindy, but I'd be boring everyone one - so I'll say this.
Hindmarsh is epitomizes what it means to be loyal to a club, your family, the fans and everything else.
Both on and off the field, he has been a champion for the good part of a decade, and he will forever remain a fan favourite.
Upon his unfortunate retirement, whenever that is - we have to ensure that he is in some way remembered for the fantastic contributions that he has made to the club.
Anyways, Hindmarsh is a champion of our club, and he will forever remain in the hearts of fans who have had the privilege of watching him play and meeting him.
He is amongst the most humble, generous and kindest players you will meet, but also one of the greatest people that you can meet.
Nathan, you have given us so many great memories, and may you continue to give us many, many more.
Never met the guy personally but one can only admire the attributes this guys displays on and off the field.
Could go on about what this guys about but the main thing that sticks in my mind about Hindy of late is that try saving tackle on Gidley last year when not only did he make a try saving tackle he also ripped the ball off him.
That single play to me optimises what the guy is about.
He never gives up regardless of the odds.
You are a true champion Hindy and will be long remembered after you leave the game not only by Parra supportes but supporters of rugby league in general as the Parra/NSW/Australian War Horse.
Good luck on your 300th mate hopefully the boys can bring home a win to celebrate this massive achievement.
His motor is never ending and his drive is immaculate.
He knows where to be and will stop at nothing to get to that point.
He is my favourite sportsman across any code.
Congrats on 300 Nathan Hindmarsh you dead set champion of the game.
TWO WORDS FOR YOU ALL. NATHAN HINDMARSH
I've been privileged enough to sit down with Hindy a number of times and talk with him about footy, life and other things.
